Last day of the premier league season, although we're worse off points wise than last year, I feel we've made improvement again. Next season I expect him to have all the pieces in place to have a go for the title. I'm not saying we will win it, but I think this will be the year he will be judged on, and he will judge himself on.

I don't see improvement if we finish fourth that's stability. Just repeating the same as last year. If we win the champions league that would be improvement.
Id love it if we won, just to get rewarded for the football we have played this season.

{Ed025's Note - no walter its improvement, the football is electric and the signings have basically all improved the team so how you can say its the same as last year is beyond me, as negative as you are mate surely you can see that there is something special being built here...and there is more to come i believe..

You do realise 3rd place is still possible if Leicester get a win at Spurs and we beat Brighton?

How can getting to the champions league final not be an improvement! I mean how meany times have city done it 🤷🏼‍♂️.

Ed025 is correct, there has been many improvements.

4th place and a champions league final (win or lose) is a vast improvement on last season when we weren’t in Europe. Its a huge impact on the squad.

As ed025 says, the football has been electric. It’s been the most entertaining season since 2013/ 14 and because of Europe I think it has exceeded that.

{Ed025's Note - i have to be honest ron its not great watching from an evertonian perspective, but even on our pages liverpool are getting some great plaudits because of the way they have played and the entertainment value, i fail to see how anyone can see anything negative with the progress of the reds mate...walter excluded of course..

Good old negative it must be a joy waking up next to you each morning.

There has been no improvement on league position this season really though, we have a fantastic starting 11 but our squad wasn’t strong enough to make the leap up to first place.
I can see us finishing higher next season with Keita coming in but 1st? I’m not sure, it would require a phenomenal summer transfer window for me. Let’s see what the squad looks like in August.

{Ed025's Note - there is no divine right to be champions mikey and considering where liverpool where before klopp came the improvement has been terrific, its a process and about gradual improvement as a team a squad and a club, i believe the reds are on the right path and im surprised how negative some of you have been to be honest...you want to try being a blue for a season or two mate..

7.) 13 May 2018
13 May 2018 10:56:06
Exactly, gradual improvements. Not many teams can get to a European final and manage to maintain their league form, especially those from competitive leagues. I’m sure if we went out in the champions league group stage we would be 2nd. Honestly, I wouldn’t watch Utd if they were playing in my back garden 😉.

Final of the champions league and fourth place is an improvement. Even if it’s incremental. Fourth place two years running shoes consistency and if we win the champions league itself then that could be the trigger for winning the premier league with the right recruitment and keeping our momentum going. Top players will want to join a team that wins the big trophies and competes at the top table.

9.) 13 May 2018
13 May 2018 11:22:43
We didn’t have European football last season, in my opinion if we didn’t this season we would probably be 10 or so points better off in the league and in second place. We have dropped at least 5 points recently due to our European efforts imo.
All theoretical but that’s my view, look at Chelsea this season with European football and how it’s affected them (not saying it’s the sole factor)

People have short memories, ed. we've had next to no champions league football in the last 10 years and been nowhere near qualifying, bar one year where we did and went out in the groups. We have now hopefully qualified two years in a row which means competing at he top end. Last year we had no European football and qualified, this year we got to the final of the the extra completion and look likely to qualify again. That is improvement.

No one has immediate success when trying to build something in football. It just doesn't happen. To go from one level to the other takes time. You don't just have to account for an increase in quality, but an increase in mentality needed get over the line in things. They say the first title is the hardest then the experience gets you through the next ones. If we can win the Champions League, the confidence and experience that will give the boys, coupled with the calibre of player we are looking to bring in will stand us in mighty good stead for the future. I'm 33. This is by far the most exciting time I have had as a Liverpool fan.

Put it this way. There aren't many clubs in world football who wouldn't want to be in our shoes right now.

Shame you're not a red Ed025, really refreshing to see honesty and praise coming from an opposition fan. Well played sir. And i totally agree with you regards way we've played and amazing job Klopp has done.

{Ed025's Note - we all have our crosses to bear coco, but credit where its due mate the reds have been amazing this season..

12.) 13 May 2018
13 May 2018 10:51:24
Edd 25 is correct about some improvements, but I'd rather play OK and win something than play the best but end up with nothing.
The table doesn't lie and if we were to finish 5th then Where's the improvement. The idea is to finish higher up the table as possible over a season.

{Ed025's Note - come on walter mate, its an entertainment industry and points are great to accumulate but to also win with style is brilliant, yourselves and city are the benchmark for all teams and i thin k you should be very proud of your team..

13.) 13 May 2018
13 May 2018 11:18:40
Without our champs league run I reckon we would be 2nd but I know which scenario I prefer
It’s a great time to be a Liverpool fan right now some amazing football loads of goals and all seem like a good bunch of lads who all get on and love playing for the club

On top of that the level of players we are being linked with is a whole new world compared to pre Klopp

We have a lot to be happy and thankful for right now.

{Ed025's Note - exactly squizza mate..

Negative keeps casting that rod and amazingly he is still getting numerous amounts of nibbles 🙈. I actually enjoy reading his posts and find a lot of them humorous, but I just take them with a pinch of salt.

15.) 13 May 2018
13 May 2018 11:57:37
If we get over the line today I think it has been a improvement. If not then I would look to last summer transfer window and the disgrace with the VVD deal we clearly needed help in the defence after last season and we didn't have it for the first quarter or so of the season.

I think since VVD we have improved (though he can definitely still improve) and I would think we would of had an etc 3 or 4 points by now if we would of had him from the beginning.

16.) 13 May 2018
13 May 2018 12:04:14
Even though the season ending table has to be considered "the truth" for the season, it's still relative. Our table position is just relative to everybody else. Take out Mignolet from the beginning of the season, put in VVD in the beginning of the season, and you'd have a closer position to ManC. And it's unquestionable that the quality of football being played this season is mind blowing sometimes. You can nitpick and split hairs all you want about season long tournament versus knock-out style tournament, but we blew ManC out of the water (one of the tournament favorites, mind you) .

17.) 13 May 2018
13 May 2018 12:49:32
If Ed25, a true Blue, is showing more perspective, honesty and candor about LFC's season (stating disprovable facts) than some of the negative posts being made on here by some of our own "fans" then you know, then you know that some of our fans are just interested in moaning and nothing else, IMO.

{Ed025's Note - i just dont get where the negativity is coming from brover?, 99% of the football public would give their right arm to be supporting a team like liverpool right now mate..

18.) 13 May 2018
13 May 2018 13:20:14
I agree ed I'm soooooo proud of my lads. these people just expect everyone to spend 200s of Millons on one part of a side alone. we are Liverpool not city to do that. if you want quick success just change colours.

19.) 13 May 2018
13 May 2018 13:38:28
Personally I put the lower points total down to two things: firstly, our dodgy form at the beginning of the season where our defence and goalie was not up to scratch, along with the imbalance and uncertainty Coutinho gave us. Karius, Van Dijk, Robertson have rectified this. Secondly is refereeing decisions; I can think of 5 or 6 games of the top of my head that have cost us points. I can’t remember a campaign in which we have been screwed over so much, I’d love to know how many penalties we have had this season compared to other campaigns as well.

20.) 13 May 2018
13 May 2018 13:47:43
Ed25. Everton ain't doing too bad yea? 1 of only 6 clubs that have never been relegated since the start of PL. All the rest (Liverpool, Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham) are now part of the Top 6. Perhaps a little lonely down there? Still, what a great achievement if you consider the clubs that have come and gone and the amount of money they have spent. Nonetheless, you will become better immediately w/ o Big Sam.

Oh, and yes, Liverpool supporter can be a grumpy bunch. To the point that even our local rivals can see that we have progressed, are on to something special, and has now returned to a club where there's something to play for towards the end of the season for 3 years running since Klopp came, and still we moan about the lack of progress. A lack of success till date? Yes. Lack of progress? Not even in the ball park.

21.) 13 May 2018
13 May 2018 13:58:06
I read that if liverpool keep a clean sheet today they equal rafa's record for clean sheets in a season. that's progress in itself considering how tactically protective of a lead rafa was. The draws have killed us this season pure and simple. But i think every single supporter would have taken 4th place and a champions league final st the start of the season. Liverpool being back in the champions league final is massive progress from where we were at a few seasons back. A few more quality signings and liverpool look pretty well set up for long term success. that's more pleasing than anything else for me. Anything can happen in football ofcourse but we are building towards the best squad we have had in years in terms of a squad that's built for purpose. Klopp has brought an aura back to liverpool which will only help in attracting quality talent.
Its all on the up for me.
