Sorry if this has been covered I used the search bar and couldn't find any punditry but how exactly is TAA going to get any time in the midfield with Keita and possibly another midfielder arriving?

He is not suddenly going to become a regular, as you have seen the tail end of this season majority of players have looked exhausted!

He will also support the RB role as well as he is just learning and maturing.

There's been talk of Lallana leaving the club and there's also the Ox's injury to consider. That leaves us with Wijnaldum, Milner, Henderson, Keita and possibly another midfielder (who is likely to play further forwards) . With Liverpool potentially competing across four competitions I'm sure he'll get time. I suspect he'll also continue to cover right back as well. Had Liverpool not gotten knocked out of the EFL cup so early this year maybe he would have had more gametime in the midfield.

TAA will cover RB and CM next year, imo. The eds have said we're prioritising a new RB who will presumably be first choice, and although Keita + one or two more midfielders are coming in, Lallana might look to leave, Can is pretty much gone, Milner might look to leave and we never actually replaced Coutinho. He'll probably get less gametime which might not be too bad a thing considering the constant media spotlight and how young players probably need some protection from the fans' overhyping after a good game and abuse after a bad one but he should get enough. Gomez is quite injury prone and he'll also be covering CB whilst a few injuries this season have already left us light in midfield, so TAA will definitely get gametime in both positions.

Here we go again. Why would Lallana or Milner leave? Or is it wishful thinking? You’ll regret it when they are gone.

{Ed001's Note - Lallana is keen on a move.}

Lallana will not stay to be a squad player. The team has moved on from him and at 30, he will want to be playing regularly. Not to mention 110k a week for a squad injury prone player is just wasting the club's valuable resources. A youngster like Chirivella or Woodburn would benefit more from the exposure than keeping expensive backups like Lallana. His wages can be used to give the likes of Salah and Mane wage hikes.

Lallana has been injured this entire season more or less, he is keen on a move away, he does not really fit into the teams style due to the slowness of his play, he is on a large wage, and he is 30 years old. Why would we regret him leaving?

As for Milner? He should be a squad player, but no more. I suspect he would not be happy with that role. He is also another on a huge salary. I don't think it would be the disaster you make it out if they left. Recruitment will be key - if we recruit well, and wisely, as we have been doing recently, we will be fine.

Lallana without injuries would have played a lot this season and I have little doubt he would have been great, he's almost perfectly suited for Klopp football.

However with his injuries and his age we're looking to the future and Lallana can't be first choice going forward. If someone wants him and he wants to go he can leave with our thanks.

Genuinely don't get players who want to move on to play regular football as they don't want to be just squad players. If you want to be successful it will take a squad effort over a long gruelling season to achieve this. If you're playing week in week out you will be dead on your feet with ten games to go hence win nothing?

verdo1 - not everyone is in it for the trophies or the money. Plenty of footballers (granted not as many as there used to be, but still plenty) are in it because they love playing football. They love every minute they spend on the field and would rather play 3000 minutes and win nothing then 1000 minutes and sit at home looking at a medal. It just depends on the person. It also depends on how they feel about smaller contributions - it's easy to say it's a squad game and everyone contributes so they should be happy with smaller roles, but do you really think Coutinho's La Liga medal from this season which was already won by the time he signed is worth as much to him as a PL medal last year would have been? Of course not, because he'll always know that although he had a part in earning it, realistically he didn't earn it.

Happy to stand corrected about Lallana (thanks Ed) but I’d still be sorry to see him go.
Milner might be in a high salary but there was no fee for him. That seems to be forgotten. The salary reflects that. Personally I think he’s always been good value, lately in particular.
