Now then Ed001. Plenty of sunshine and booze mate over the weekend I hope?

Wanted your thoughts on Fekir please mate. Do you think he would fit into our system and style of play? Can he play in a 3 in Midfield or is he seen as playing further forward?

Also do you no anything else the situayion as regards to our interest? Ed002 gave his thoughts on it and explained we are looking for a Coutinho type replacement but do you no if interest in him is based on speculation or are we activly looking at him?

{Ed001's Note - I don't drink mate, but thanks.

I like Fekir a lot, he is like a Couts upgrade, however I am not fully convinced he is right for our style of play. He tends to play better in the Firmino role, from what I have seen.

There is interest but no move has been made, the rumours are just the usual tabloid crap because Lyon have made it known he is likely to move in the summer.}

I don't think he'd struggle for games. agree that he probably plays best in the space firmino occupies. but he really could play in the midfield 3 against teams sitting deep to give extra umph going forward. he also could cover any of the front 3 imo again something that's been lacking especially with firmino where simply no player in our squad can seamlessly replace him for a game.

Expensive option but would definitely be a huge upgrade for the squad. My only concern (having not watched tonnes admittedly) but would he press similar to firmino? I struggle paying attention to teams off the ball when it's not Liverpool playing as I just follow who has the ball and want goals!

Wijnaldum was seen as more of an advanced player before we signed him, if I'm not mistaken. Perhaps Klopp sees the same for Fekir? Though nowhere near as deep. He has been playing mainly in an attacking midfielder position this season, something we desperately need against teams like Chelsea and United (to name the two most competent exponents of the art of pragmatism) . Also, he can cover anywhere across the front as well. Klopp does have a penchant for versatile players and this lad seems to fit the bill.

Cheers for reply ed. Thank god I am not on twitter or read any tabloid. Everyone at work is telling me he will arrive etc, I didn't beleive any of them and new you would clear things up mate.

Thanks again.

{Ed001's Note - welcome mate. I am not on any of the social media networks now. Life is much better without that crap.}

I like the look of Fekir. I wasn't sure on him initially, but he seems to be getting better and better.

From what I've seen, he looks like he could be a good balance with Keita on one side of the midfield 3, and Fekir on the other.

Both players like to to receive the ball deeper, and then drive at the opposition. Both can shoot from range, slide in a pass, or go round the outside and cut it back. Plus, both aren't afraid to really get stuck in and work back. This would allow Salah and Mane to push up into more advanced roles and thus run in behind more frequently, as they wouldn't feel like they need to come back and take the ball off of an inferior players toes.

As a fluid attack (front 5), that could be devastating and it will give us far more creativity and another 15-20 goals a season from midfield. All 5 of them work like Trojans as well. If anyone got tired we'd have Chambo, Arnold, Woodburn, Gini and Solanke to come on and run at them with a bit of fearlessness. All footed up with a base of Hendo or Ceballos pulling the strings.

That mere prospect really excites me!

Let's hope there is something in it and we are building towards some squad/ tactical versatility next season, combined with the ability to manage fitness a bit more naturally than we have been this season.

Have to admit i haven't seen much of Fekir apart from the highlights but it seems to be anonymous amongst those commenting both here and on youtube that the guy is a serious talent so would welcome him with open arms. He did strike me from the Youtube clips as a more robust Coutinho so I get the cross between Coutinho and AOC observation someone made.

A midfield of AOC/ Henderson, Keita and Fekir would do me nicely.

Cheers ed. I avoid social media tbh as its full of crap. Only use you guys for my drug lol. I for one really hope we get him, I think he would be a good addition. I guess time will tell.

{Ed001's Note - I would love us to sign him, really like him as a player.}

Both Bobby and Fekir are class talents so I don't think there will be a prob. with them playing together esp. if Fekir plays the 10 role behind Bobbie. I like the look of him as well and he is just a brilliant player, can play in a from two, behind the striker (like he did with Lacazette) in the no. 8. He also drops VERY deep to help defensively and pick the ball up and dictate play. At Lyon this season, he has played behind the 2 strikers (Traore and Mariano) at times so he is not too shabby in midfield either. I hope we get him cos he will improve us cos he is actually better than Cou, as Ed said.

But Ed mate you know and we all know exactly what happens if you want the club to sign a player you like.

{Ed001's Note - exactly why I have kept quiet regarding him.}

So we are too assume Lemar deal is over or at least not high priority anymore?
I know I will probably get mullered on here for this but would love to sign Kovacic he just looks class to me and seems so under appreciated at Madrid.

{Ed001's Note - Lemar is being priced out of the market.}

Johncrow, have you been bitten by anyone called Harry lately? 😉.

Would be an exciting addition, if he’s able to fulfill a role in midfield 3 seems to be open to question.
If he were to be signed perhaps we may revert to a 4-2–3-1 formation with Fekir, Mane and Salah behind Bobby. But at the moment all hyperthetical as it’s only media gossip at this point.

JJ, Kovacic is SOOO 2015. As for Lemar, not for me. He is too expensive and if I had to pick btw him and Fekir, I know who I would want. Spoiler alert: It's not Lemar.

Lemar hasn't had a great season either, definitely one to leave alone, I'm glad we never splashed the cash to get him when everybody was raving about him. Arsenal can have him lol.

Can't have enough firmino's! I like fekir too from what little I've seen, would be great I think, can play wide, through the middle or a as a ten I think. Also, you'd say lallana, gini, Ox and maybe Keita would see themselves as attacking midfielders, I think it seems to be two attacking mind'ed players in the middle either side of a hendo type sitting player - Ox Keita gini and fekir could do that, with Ox and fekir having options further up the pitch too.

Mk mate you'll have seen more than me and know your stuff, how is he off the ball and pressing? Lyon don't seem to play a major press and never focused to watch his off the ball play. Would be my only concern really that and the energy for 90 mins Prem weekly but that's easier to work on with fitness.

Chelsea keen on him also ed?

{Ed001's Note - lots of clubs will be interested in him in the summer. I am not sure about Chelsea though.}

Ok mate fair enough. One more thing then I promise to leave you alone lol. Is our interest recent or going back a while?

{Ed001's Note - a while, hence why I have watched a fair bit of him.}
