Still no need to panic. Even if Chelsea beat Huddersfield at home then Newcastle away, if Liverpool beat Brighton at home they will finish fourth due to goal difference. However these performances are worrying at this stage of the season. Need to get themselves up for next week and win well to keep big Mo going in to the 26th in Kiev.

{Ed0333's Note - it’s been a long season with not much squad rotation it’s only natural fatigue will rear its ugly head. If we don’t beat Brighton then we don’t deserve top 4.

The result doesn’t bother me but that performance was absolutely awful. Deserved nothing from that game.

That was absolutely awful!

We can all understand the UCL Final being on the player’s minds however, seeing as it’s not guaranteed that we’ll win it, there’s no a very real chance that we could miss out on the top 4. If we don’t beat Brighton next Sunday, I believe we’ll finish fifth and, no matter what some people think of Real Madrid, they’re no mugs and know how to win the UCL.

What, for a long time, looked like it could be an amazing season is now only a draw and a defeat away from ending disastrously!

I thought we where the better side until Chelsea scored, certainly nowhere near our Best but I was happy enough but after the goal we where awful and deserved nothing.

Our team has had the most rotation in the league this season. The players aren’t fatigued they don’t want to get injured and miss what will probably be the highlight of most of their careers and seeing ox get injured has made them play within themselves. Only mane of the attack has been good these last 3 league games.

I agree with ed. If over the season we finish 5th then it's well deserved. The lads look tired hopefully the week off will give them the boost to see off Brighton who I don't see coming to anfield and doing anything especially as they are completely safe. However our midfield looks lost without can or ox making them runs at the opposition. Hopefully next season naby and ox can provide what's missing in our midfield but on the recent displays we are going to need to invest before we can make up the gap to challenge city. We didn't really do much wrong today just didn't have anything to penetrate a solid defense. Anyways no doom and gloom everything is ours to lose.

It's not all doom and gloom yet, we'll beat Brighten, the lads will of had a rest by then. A much needed rest.

Awful performance but if we’d scored early through one of Mane’s chances could have been a lot better. Let’s face it, the team is exhausted and we’ve also lost Ox who was a driving force in midfield against teams who sat back and chose to rest Hendo. it was always going to be tough away against Chelsea.

Our best shot at sealing this is still Brighton at home, let’s hope we pick ourselves up with a weeks rest, blow them away and will then be fresh for the CL final. No need to despair yet.

There is every reason to panic. We wre very close to screwing this up.

Bottled that one today. I think the players need a serious rest and a proper reaction vs Brighton.

Woeful an proves where we need strengthening. Loveren yet again weak in the air. I'm sorry but Arnold still making stupid mistakes an his crossing is woeful.

You think Lovren was at fault today Truthhurts? I thought it was Virgil myself leaving Lovren to mark 2 players!

Oh give over, TH cos this Lovs bashing is bordering on the rank absurd. You think Lovs was at fault? Then, I propose you go watch the goal again and you will see that Irish Rover is absolutely correct. VVD and TAA make mistakes BUT for some reason cos Lovs is standing next to them in such situations, he gets the blame. VVD is no saint. In fact, his flaws are there to see if anyone actually bothered to use their eyes and an open mind.

As for the game, if people wanna analyse the game and call it awful w/ o considering the mitigating circumstances that inherently affects players' individual performance (injuries, mental and physical fatigue, etc) then it is a waste of time. Unlike others, I'm not panicking nor disappointed cos I knew Chelsea could beat us esp. under the circumstances. The fact remains that we are IN CONTROL of the outcome and frankly, I'm happy we have a full week of rest and prep. b4 the BHA game. We win, we are in. It's that simple.

Bit harsh to blame VVD for the goal from a deflected cross. They deserved I score and Iv no dramas with that. What bothers me was how slowly we played and how poor everyone’s touch was in and around the box. We just looked out of this ideas from the first whistle.

West, if VVD is not to blame then for sure, NEITHER is Lovs. That was my only point. Our boys are mentally and physically drained so not surprised we were lacking ideas and snatching at things and trying too hard to make things happen. Not saying it is an excuse but just understanding why things were the way they were. It is impossible to have a cool head when you are shattered physically, mentally and emotionally. Footballers are human beings too and suffer the same things regular people suffer. They will have a full week of rest and training and we go again.

{Ed025's Note - im not buying the "mentally and physically drained bunkum brover, working 6 days a week digging up roads for a pittance and still not being able to provide for your family is draining, not training and playing something you love for 90 minutes a week!..and being paid a kings ransom for it too!!..

Yeah I agree ed25, it’s not back-breaking work, but when you’re coming to the end of a season where you’ve given everything for 10 months you’re allowed the odd off game.

We have been easily the second most entertaining team in the league this season behind City. We are in the champions league final, what Pep wouldn’t give for that!

At this stage the players need the fans on their side because they have to produce just 2 more perfomances!

😎🏆.

Not saying it was Lovrens fault either Ron, just saying sometime goals get scored againts and their isn’t really a scapegoat.

Ed25, you are free to compare jobs without considering any of the nuances and grey areas therin. I choose not to do that esp. when one is a sport (with diff. demands) and the other s pretty much manual labor. Cheers, man.

{Ed025's Note - i really enjoy your posts brover and think you are up there with the best, you do tend to make excuses for the team not performing though mate but thats out of passion and so fair play to you, im just not excusing players for being lacklustre and going through the motions and by his interview i think klopp may agree with me..
