Well those 2 away goals have completely killed the buzz. Don't get me wrong outstanding attacking play but to switch off again like we've done with the West Brom game is poor but never the less we go again!

24 Apr 2018 21:54:00
I've still got the buzz, we're 3 goals up, who'd of took that before the game? I certainly would've, we WILL score at their ground, we're Liverpool it's what we do, we make things difficult at times but we'll get through.

2.) 24 Apr 2018
24 Apr 2018 22:04:02
I would of taken this result at the start of the game, penalty a bit harsh, had it happened in the other end I don't think we would of got it being 5-1 up. We'll get at least 1 and won't play like Barcelona did in the second leg.

3.) 24 Apr 2018
24 Apr 2018 22:05:49
We conceded 2 goals in both games against WBA and Roma once Klopp took off Salah. Our midfield and defense did not suddenly become poor.

Without him, we lose a potent threat on the counter and teams have nothing to lose and can afford to attack us.

In both legs against City, we held firm partly because we had an outlet in Salah who could run at their defense and relieve the pressure. No disrespect to Ings, Firmino or Mane but they can't do what Salah can do.

24 Apr 2018 22:06:17
Subbing salah changed the game it shows our depth is lacking

Hope ox isn't as bad as they think has been a great player since signing.

{Ed0333's Note - we do need to recruit well again this summer. One more good transfer window and we’ll have a phenomenal first 11.

5.) 24 Apr 2018
24 Apr 2018 22:07:39
I want to have enjoyed that result but the last 10 has left me a bit deflated. Trying to tell my self had it ended 5-2 with it being 2-2, for example, I would be a lot happier.

Better they have the wake up call at this point than next week I suppose?

6.) 24 Apr 2018
24 Apr 2018 22:24:32
I can’t believe we lost to Roma. Oh wait we didn’t we have a 3 goal advantage over them!

7.) 24 Apr 2018
24 Apr 2018 22:16:44
sibsama, Salah played 50' in the first City leg.

8.) 24 Apr 2018
24 Apr 2018 22:16:56
Good game tonight, but my only worry is that in every knock-out round, they've lost the first leg and still gone through. They lost to Shahktar Donetsk 2 - 1 and Barcelona 4-1.
Mane also needs to work on his shooting, he's been missing a lot of shots lately.

9.) 24 Apr 2018
24 Apr 2018 22:19:51
Not so downbeat about the late goals but more so over OX. Leaves very very thin in midfield to the point we may have to start playing a 4-2-4 😂😂😂 but on a serious note more worried about our midfield engine now.

10.) 24 Apr 2018
24 Apr 2018 22:23:17
Of course we all would have taken 5-2 at the beginning of the game but within the circumstances of being 5-0 up it hard to not feel deflated but a win is a win and like I said we’ll go again!

11.) 24 Apr 2018
24 Apr 2018 22:33:29
Got to blame klopp for the Salah substitution, Salah was enjoying himself, no need to rest him, could've rested him against Stoke on Saturday, as soon as he took him off the rest of the team thought "we can ease off now" and we paid the consequences. What an amazing 60 minutes of football we played though.

{Ed0333's Note - yes but no one is blaming the team for easing off?!

12.) 24 Apr 2018
24 Apr 2018 22:33:39
If Salah coming off means the remaining players switch off and feel that the game is over and they can relax a bit and take everything down a gear then the fault lies at the players on the pitch. As much as Salah is an unreal talent and crucial player for us, he's not some kind of superhuman phenomenon. It should signal no such thing to the team and this kind of complacency will be our undoing longterm.

People placing blame at the feet of the manager need to use logic and stop thinking short-term. The league is far from over and we have no guaranteed CL at this point. It's a timely life lesson to our team and one that needs to be taken with heed as quickly as possible. This blame complex that rears its ugly head everytime something doesn't go to plan doesn't help situation. We win as a team, we lose as a team.

{Ed0333's Note - superb post totally agree.

13.) 24 Apr 2018
24 Apr 2018 22:48:53
It's all mental. If our players become 10 feet with salah and 2 feet without him doesn't that reflect on the players mentaloty.? I think so, goes to show that it's not about what they know it's about how they can do it. So just do it!

Tactically tho is a different story. I can see the argument for keeping the foot on their throat for the final 20. They were gone, then we changed things made a mistake and then gave them hope. Again mentally for them that changed the momentum. Amazing this mentality thing aye, wish ya could bottle it and drink y up at key times?!

24 Apr 2018 22:50:14
Why is everyone acting like Roma are a class team and still In this tie? I’m sorry Rory but they’re not, and they’re lucky to have got hat penalty it was a penalty but there were far more certain handball today that weren’t given. Liverpool are through end tleg is a walk over and we’ll win 3.0. Don’t pretend it’s not over. Said from day one wel win the tournament. Let the Dow voting commence, I’m not cocky I’m just honest.

15.) 24 Apr 2018
24 Apr 2018 22:51:39
Hsf we won the 2 first legs and went through, surely that's the desirable record.

16.) 24 Apr 2018
24 Apr 2018 22:57:57
To be fair. Looking at it now. I would much rather our players got there wake up call today than next week in the middle of the game.

They know this is still a tie. Do not get lazy. We got lazy for 20 minutes and they scored 2, there is 90 minutes next week.

Be ready and absolute kill them. If we don't then and we f this up then it was a great season but we don't deserve to be in the final overall. That's why there is 2 legs. So one doesn't just have a bad game and get knocked out.

If roma want the final then they have to beat us and I honestly truly deep down cannot imagine us going there and not scoring at least 1. We have just smashed them for 5 and regardless of the the final 3 the first 2 were us being better than them. They couldn't stop salah for 30 minutes. Now they want to try 90.

17.) 24 Apr 2018
24 Apr 2018 23:03:33
Just home from the game.
Strange feeling after a 5-2 win not as elated as I would like to be.
We could have had 7 .
We know what went wrong .
Looking for positives we must remember our players ran their socks off and put in a fabulous shift, towards the end of the game they were tired and Roma were not .
The Lads won't be tired in Rome next week early in the game, the Roma guys will push us back as did City, Mane will not miss when he is clear next week. I think we can get them on the break and get to the final.
Any one going to Rome next week take extra care as it is very dangerous especially if we win.
YNWA.

18.) 24 Apr 2018
24 Apr 2018 23:05:33
Agreed Cesar, we have some key tools that are a mis-match for them and that can certainly play in our favor in 2nd leg. Think we can approach 2nd leg with confidence.

19.) 24 Apr 2018
24 Apr 2018 23:08:48
Its not super human he draws player and has 2-3 players with him at all times which gives the team space and options to work and keep pressing taking him off allowed roma to spread out and use the midfield more effectivly and caused the problems we have progressed as a team we need a few tweeks to the starting 11 which will help balance the team a bit more but we also need to upgrade our bench which will come in time.

20.) 24 Apr 2018
24 Apr 2018 23:13:34
What buzz is being killed, OP? We won, scored 5 (could have been 10) and we have the THREE goal advantage. I know that the last two goals we conceded were cheap BUT had I been offered a 3 goal lead w/ us scoring 5, I and the rest of us would have taken it so let's stop being negative. Roma were less of a challenge than City and let's stop putting them on some pedestal. They were as a whole, dire and with the tempo we were playing at, their legs had gone after 30 mins. If you think we will let up on them like Barcelona did then they have something else coming for them.

Also, they may have beaten Barcelona 3-0 and went through BUT a bit of context is needed here. Barcelona were ABSOLUSTELY dreadful in that game and played like it. They conceded the second goal in the 60th min and their clueless manager (him winning the Liga does not change that fact) made NO changes, NO adjustments and just stood or sat there and watched as a passin-the-ball-to-Messi-and-see what-happens was a strategy. It was NOT and he rightfully got slaughtered for it by the Spanish media.

Roma STILL has to score 3 goals without conceding vs a team that scores goals for fun, play at the tempo they can't cope with and have a much better defence, attack and players overall than Barcelona currently do (Messi and Suarez are winding down their careers) . Roma control NOTHING here and like vs City, it all depends on us and if we play the way we know how, we will be in Kiev.

21.) 24 Apr 2018
24 Apr 2018 23:15:09
Also, those blaming Klopp for taking off Salah, should give their heads a wobble. If you can't take Salah off being 5-0 up, when in blazes, can you ever take him off, exactly? Again, the pathetic finger-pointing w/ o no perspective at all, needs to end as it's becoming tedious and boring.

22.) 24 Apr 2018
24 Apr 2018 23:17:19
Yes folks another mistake from our man Lovren. C’mon! It wouldn't be right without a Lovren moment. How often does he just zone out in games? Never a pen either. Apart from that we absolutely battered them. We’ll score next week for sure.

23.) 24 Apr 2018
24 Apr 2018 23:17:58
great post smallest,

Got to share, I had 5-2 at 80/ 1 result.

I wasn't cheering there goals by the way I'd forgotten the bet by the end.

Great night, if we don't make the final with a 3 goal lead then we don't deserve it.

24.) 24 Apr 2018
24 Apr 2018 23:21:37
Basically we all know it would of been better to win 3-0 than 5-2, but wow what an attacking display. If we do that again for just one half next week it’s over, but we shouldn’t write them off. They are not in the Semis by being rubbish. Devastated for Ox, I hope it’s not a ligament but the way he fell it looks like it. Midfield is looking pretty thin! First team fine but for rotation not many options! Woodburn maybe or Bobby to drop back into attacking mid?
It saddens me to see Lovren making a goal costing mistake yet again, and lucky it was only 1 TBH. I have so many ups and downs with this fella and I kinda feel sorry for him because for 80 mins he can be great, but those mistakes are never going away and it’s going to cost him a starting spot with us very soon I think. A good window in the summer to plug these little gaps that keep creeping in and we will have one hell of a team.

25.) 25 Apr 2018
25 Apr 2018 00:03:23
What's all the doom and gloom about?
All the blame?
We take a 3 goal lead I to the away game, Roma must attack straight off leaving space behind for us to counter against which I'm pretty sure that's our biggest threat against almost all defences we've played against. So why all the doom and gloom?
Yes the players turned off after the Salah substitution, not klopps fault he did the right thing giving Salah a rest.
End of day we played some amazing football, easily one of most entertaining games I've watched in years.
Next up stoke then we go again in Europe, let's sit back and enjoy the ride.

26.) 25 Apr 2018
25 Apr 2018 00:16:23
By taking your best player off it is like saying the games over don’t get hurt for the next game . This has happened on several occasions over the season and we have come in stuck Mr Klopp should of worked this out against Man City in the league game at Anfield we’re we conceded goals when he took mo off leave him till a minute to go and take him off.

27.) 25 Apr 2018
25 Apr 2018 06:05:42
I think it helps the team to learn how to play without salah. I mean shiet, if we can't see a gme out at 5-0 without him then when can we actually give the guy a rest lol.

All learning and lessons to take on. We are well in control and need to be mentally prepared for a firestorm in Rome.

28.) 25 Apr 2018
25 Apr 2018 10:17:10
Can’t blame Klopp for the substitution. Salah is not a machine to play 100 games a season! Klopp has no real back ups! That’s the actual point! No pace on the flanks and no threat up front! Ings, Solanke and Origi are bang average. Let’s be real! No wonder Klopp has never looked at anyone entire season. Need to buy a world class wide player in the summer.

29.) 25 Apr 2018
25 Apr 2018 13:10:20
I don't know what Origi or Solanke have to do with anything BUT I digress. Great post tho, Commuter and Faith. Salah had to come off cos we will need him to secure top 4 vs Stoke on the weekend. Also, if the team can't keep a clean sheet with 10 to go then they might as well dope Salah so he can play all games at full pelt for 90 mins.

Abeyred, sorry but I'm not buying that stuff. Your best player help you to a 5-0 lead and came off with 15 to go. The rest of the team had 15 left to see it out and they could not do it for many reasons for which Klopp is NOT one of them. Stop with the finger-pointing. Even on Lovren. He missed that header by a whisker and those are the margins we are playing with at this level. It happens.

The Roma defenders made a tonne of mistakes as well otherwise, how else do you think some of our goals came from? I'm tired of the constant finger pointing, really. This is football at the highest level where there ar NO perfect games. You can play a perfect game and not get the perfect result, which is what happened last night. Sheesh!
