Sounds like another injury then to Lovren this time, along with Gomez not being ready until end of the month. Looking like we have Klavan to partner Virgil for the next 2-4 games.

Thoughts?

Look at the main strikers who we play in the next 6 games:

Rondon, Dzeko, Crouch/ Diouf, Dzeko, Giroud/ Morata, Murray.

Klavan struggles against pace and thrives in a physical battle. To be honest, I'm more concerned about Virgil having to play on the right!

Was just going to say the same MK, VVD on the right? yeah it worries me. We saw him go to the right against Bournemouth and it's just not him.

Is it just not him playing on the right? Or was trying to reform the partnership in the centre having not trained there and being under attack in the last 10 minutes of a game the issue?

If Van Djik is anywhere near as good as people think he is, and frankly as good as he thinks he is, then he can work with TAA and Klavan in training this week and he'll be absolutely fine. Don't worry too much off the final 10 minutes of a game.

Hjikle, I saw him play there a handful of times for Southampton too, and it was diabolical. Lovren's ability to play seamlessly on either side is so under rated! Not many centre backs can do it.

I do agree with you though, that it should be something Klopp can work on in training to fine tune. A £75m player should be able to play 20 yards to the right of where he normally stands. You'd hope so anyway!

Where did you get the info that Lovren will miss the Roma games? Gomez will be training this week.

I wouldn't be worried about Klavan against any of the forwards he would be facing, as MK said. They're all target men and he does well in physical battles.

Klavans was doing great until he got injured, he'll be fine. Bizarre to think that our top CB might go to pieces because he's moved 20 yards to the right as MK has said, bizarre.

Before this site I have never heard anyone worrying about which side a CB plays on and cannot see how it matters. We expect all the attackers/ mids to be versatile and interchangeable, why not CBs? How much different is it really playing LCB or RCB?

I'll be worried about every one of our defenders when they face Dzeko. He is quality.

The club has said nothing yet about his injury so don't know where all this panic is coming from, really?

Doesn't worry me at all. Klavan is a great cb and was proving that before we signed Vvd. And virgil is the best cb on the planet, of he can't handle West brom then I want a refund.

It does matter what side they play on King kenny. Strikers will instinctively try and go outside the cb and you want your defender using his best foot to make a challenge. That said there are pros and cons and a defender who cost 75 mil should be able to come across, lovren managed it for ages, sort of.
