I was thinking about the Harry Kane debacle. I wonder what Gareth Southgate makes of it. A lot of clamour for Harry Kane to be England's captain at the World Cup, but when you basically bully your teammate and claim his goal as yours, and you go at great lengths to appeal and prove it, I don't know how that can be a good example of what a team should be.
We'll see.

I just love this Harry Kane thing. The name alone has the potential to become a very-long-lasting meme on the net, ever!

In a week this thing will be forgotten, it's only still being talked about here because people take it as a personal insult against against Salah.

Actually Putney it's literally all over the internet, mostly because it's hilarious how pathetic it is and no-one can quite believe how or why it's happened.

It is constantly being spoken about widely in footballing circles (both fans and players) and will not disappear in a week. There is the slight feel that it is desperation against Salah and his assault on the golden boot but in truth the annoyance for most of us is that HK has seemed to ditch the spirit of the game. Let's get this right, I loved Suarez and he constantly breached the spirit of the game but what Kane has done to his own team mate makes the whole thing a retelling of the Biblical Cain and Abel. I get he's a hungry striker and that wanting to score is his modus operandi but this motivation can only be supported when it is against, for example, a slight deflection (OG) or a blatant dviersion of the course of the ball.

you know? can't people check it like how the 3 umpires do in cricket? for lbw example? they can check the vibration right?

harry kane felt the air brush pass him as the goal went in, therefore it's harry kanes goal.

I wouldn't be too happy with Kane, as it doesn't really help team spirit does it?

I just don't get the point of the whole thing. Why it matters to the extent of getting a ruling from an appeals panel is beyond me. Surely there's a couple Shearer could've lay claim to on his way to 260? Or, is it to do with being top scorer for 3 seasons in a row for the first time (ever)? I find it childish, and regardless of this season's scoring charts, I've lost respect for his attitude and him as a person. It clearly stinks of being very selfish towards team mates as well. I know Tottenham never win anything so he has to take success where he can, but come on.

The shamelessness of this Kane debacle can only be matched by a seeming desperation to make Kane happy. Why? I don't know. What I do know is that the optics are pathetic for a Spurs club that is now getting the reputation of being a teacher's (FA's) pet, something many people don't like cos it's like they are getting preferential treatment which is a disgrace, IMO.
