Ed001 I remember you weren't to impressed with Robertson

He has been solid of late how do you rate him lately.

{Ed001's Note - too early to judge him really but he is very inconsistent. Very raw.}

I agree with the Ed. But he does have promise and great coaches. Still better than Moreno as things stand.

He is improving though, has started setting up goals, can't wait for him to score! I think people have seen the improvement and are pleased. And pleased just to have a proper left back who knows British football.

I love Roberston. Yes he's not technically our best player by a country mile but I love his effort levels and pure grit. He must cover some ground every game and his tackles are quite old school with a bit of bite in them. He also seems to have a good defensive mind.

What do people expect nowadays? I think if you asked the majority of rightminded people 'who has been the standout left back over the past few months? ' Robertson would be on most people's list. The lad has energy, good delivery bearing in mind our attackers aren't the tallest, commitment and his defensive ability is improving each game. plus he has had an out of sorts mane in front of him for a couple of months. name the last Liverpool left back who had those abilities. If he was Spanish or Brazilian everyone would be raving about him.

Yeah, over the last couple of months I'd have go agree. Up there with best lb in league. Started the season a bit hit and miss and has been out of position once or twice but I think and hope that the consistency is here now, or getting there.

I'm dead chuffed with him, just to be clear.

{Ed025's Note - good potential SS, but up there with the best in the league??? come on mate get a grip..

The good thing about Robbo is if there is a 50/ 50 I don't have to put my hands across my face and watch through the gaps between my fingers as I did with AM.

I still think he has a lot to prove. He's proved to be a bargain at the price we got him for and I would keep him on ahead of Moreno of course but there's work that needs to be done with him. His determination and energy impress me, I think in time he COULD be one of the best in the league but not yet, we will see. Either way respect to him he is certainly trying but maybe trying a little too hard, he needs to relax and focus a little bit more.

Better than ben davies, monreal, ashey young, delph, danilo. Outperformed Rose, Bertrand and Baines this season. Watfords one guy looks good on the 3 games i've watched him, Van Aanholt is decent. Just how many good left backs are even out there? Certainly in the last 5 weeks ie current form, Robertson has to be up there. I'd love to ear any other names anyone would like to put forward so that I can have a look.

In the last couple of months I think he has been the best lb in the league. Better than rose, better than Shaw better than alonso.

Robbo is improving every week, his crossing is much better, he put in some very good crosses for Scotland too, the way he drives forward with the ball, gives the team lots of energy .

Van aanholt is just quick terrible defender!

Flavour of the month? It wasn't all that long ago that everybody here was singing Moreno's praises. Robertson is doing well but he's got a long way to go before he proves himself.

He's been an absolutely stellar LB and he's made that position his own.

I love his determination and his endless running but I think that's been mistaken for good play. He needs to be more consistent offensively and to understand when he should be closing someone down and when he should be falling back into position. If he can figure that out he could be very good.

He has promise and has had a number of decent games - but he has also had some very poor games and his overall consistency needs to improve. I like the lad and think he has potential to be very good but, as with many players, we tend to over hype them after a few decent showings. He is doing well but he has much to improve in his game - if he improves upon those things (defence, crossing, distribution, positional awareness) he'll be excellent. Right now he is in the process of learning and developing - if he can do that he could be one of the best LB's in the league, as it stands he is not there yet.

{Ed001's Note - to be fair, left backs around the world are crap, so it is saying nothing to put someone up with the best in the league as there are no good one in the Prem.}
