Tough draw obviously, for both clubs.

On paper they are slightly better of course - the league table doesn't lie but stylistically we can match up well against them, plus we have the Anfield atmosphere which can make a real difference as it did when we last met - if that match had ended 5 nil to us, they couldn't really have argued such was our dominance generally in that game.

They're going to start as favourites and rightly so, this could easily work in our favour as surely the Liverpool players will raise their games as high as they can go, whereas being favourites can (as we witness all the time) bring complacency.

If our players can keep clear heads and focus on their own game, anything could happen in this tie.

We most certainly CAN win this one, make no mistake about that.

This could be a great tie either way!

My biggest worry is there are 9 league points up for grabs before, during and after this fixture. Do we honestly have the strength in depth to rest our stars for CL and still get them points? My answer would be no. As great as the CL is for me, top 4 is still the priority. What would people's thoughts be if we get to CL semi and knocked out but finish 5th.

Someone mentioned wanting to avoid Barcelona or City.

For me the 2 teams I would have liked to avoid are Bayern and Juve. 2 teams who know how to defend.

City can’t defend for toffee we love playing against open teams. It’s bus parkers we struggle with.

Easy draw for us 👍.

Ron, I wanted to avoid City, Barcelona or Bayern because they are my 3 favourites for the tournament. They have the ability to win by 4 or 5 goals at home. So do we, but it just makes it more of a 50/ 50 chance to progress. Any other side, I'd be quietly confident of getting past over 2 legs now United and Atletico are out. I thought Juve were good defensively before the season started, but they are a shadow cast of last season. Chiellini and Barzagli look over the hill and selling Bonucci was a silly decision. They are not even top in a league they have ran away with recently.

Now we've drawn City though, we just have to suck it up and enjoy the tie! It's not like we are guaranteed to go out now. I just think we would've had a better shot against Sevilla, Roma, Juve or Real. Still, should be a good old slugging fest watching us and City trying to outscored each other over 180 minutes. Easily the best tie of the QF's. We have as much chance of progression as we do of elimination! I think the Anfield atmosphere on European nights gives us a marginal advantage.

I really do hate to say it but I've got us going out with a 6-2 aggregate loss let's hope I am wrong but we will have to wait and see.

Juve were all over the place v Spurs, only in the last 30 mins did they tighten up. Old and slow springs to mind. City would smash Juve.

No they would not, mark IMO. Juve have a much better record than City and have made 2 of the last 3 finals so let's get that straight. They were not all over the place vs Spurs. Had Juve scored that penalty at 3-1 in Turin, Spurs would have been out. Also, you forget that Juve had a stone wall pen denied when Vertonghen fouled Costa in the box at 0-0.

Spurs bottled it cos Juve are adept at playing the rope-a-dope, the same tactic that Muhammad Ali used to beat George foreman. They suck you in making you think you have a chance and then pounce. That is what they did to Spurs at Wembley. Notice they never panicked when Spurs got the lead. They took their time, made the right changes and took Spurs down.

Poch got schooled by Allegri who is just as smart as Pep, IMO (Poch is not in his league) . Allegri is a very good, smart and astute manager and City would have issues with them and so would we.

Love your optimism Ron. Now negativewalter has predicted such a heavy defeat over 2 legs, i am going to put money on Liverpool qualifying to the semi's ;)

I wouldn’t have fancied Real. All their eggs are I. The CL basket so to speak with being so far behind in the league.

think we should switch our thoughts back to the premiership, its not going to be easy to get top four like people think, thanks to the FA, who keep giving us a hard time, we now have three 12 30 games,
everton
stoke
palace,
these 12 30 games are more difficult than a 3 clock game, don't believe me, then see how many points over the season that we get from them,
also check out how many 12 30 s that we have to play compared to other teams,
no wonder Klopp is angry over the everton time change, he knows it will be another tough game, more so cos he will be temtpted to rotate and rest players for the 2nd leg V City,
fingers crossed .

We've already played them twice this season. Seeing as it's our first Champions League quarters in years I was hoping for a Real, Barcelona or Bayern personally. Think we can win the tie and get one in the next round but I was looking forward to us sending C. Ronaldo back to Madrid with his tail between his legs.

Ironic you say that negativeredwalter, on my FM18 save, I lost to City in the semi finals of the CL 6-2 on aggregate.
