Not Liverpool related but would love to hear peoples opinions on the Ronaldo V Messi arguments?

IMO Messi is miles ahead of any player i have ever seen in almost every aspect, i think Ronaldo is an incredible goal scorer but for me Messi is a level above in all aspects, he scores almost the same whilst being to create for anywhere on the pitch. I am convinced that left foot is robotic. Can only imagine the destruction that would be caused if they both played together.

Whats your opinion Eds and Reds?

Ronaldo is a much nicer person, and I think he is a more complete player. Messi has weaknesses, Ronaldo doesn't.

However, Messi in terms of vision, speed of thought, technique, dribbling etc is just on another planet to everyone in the modern game. The problem I have with Messi is that he is lazy and arrogant in the wrong ways.

When Argentina were in a major competition final the other year, Mascherano got everyone in a circle and tried to motivate them whilst captain Messi stood away on his own. His arrogance cut him off from his team mates at a time when they needed him.

When Ronaldo went off injured in a major international final, he still tried his hardest to be involved and motivate his team mates. His arrogance is channelled. He still believed he was good enough to help from the airlines, but at least he wanted to help.

Ronaldo cares. On and off the pitch. His training routine is inhuman. His charity work is genuine and compassionate. You look at his face on the pitch and see emotion.

Messi was just blessed. He doesn't care and his charity work seems like it's half hearted and he's being signed up to it by his agent for his image. He's emotionless.

I will always prefer Ronaldo, but i'm under no illusion and fully accept that Messi is the better player.

I think you need to google the charity work that Messi has done MK before throwing him under a bus. Building schools in Syria, Lionel Messi Foundation (medical research), visiting Haiti, Bangkok, meeting young people with disabilities and so on.

I think it’s rather harsh judging players on their personalities when you have met neither. As you said footballing wise Messi is in a different planet, everything else you said is just pure speculation.

Wow Ronaldo a nicer person than Messi MK? When I read that sentence I thought u were being sarcastic but then realized u actually meant it? That is incredible.

On another note Messi is the best IMO but the player I most enjoyed watching will always be ronaldinho, he was a joy to watch and made me love football when I first seen him.

Off topic I personally think Ronaldinho had more talent than both combined.

I often think that Smeg when people are judging players. Some of the players will be horrible human beings. I just support them on the pitch, off the pitch I hope they do the right things but I have no idea if they are decent people.

About the only current ex player I am glad is doing well is Lukas. But again I am making an educated guess on him as a person, oh and I support Rafa.

Agreed mark08. For example I've never liked Jon Walters, he always did well against us, seemed to love beating us and seemed to be a bit of a dirty player. I recently saw an interview with him speaking of how he lost his mum when he was 11 years old, he was very emotional and I couldn't help but feel bad for him. It made me realize that what we see of a footballer is a fraction of their lives and unless we really know them how can we judge their character.

Didn't Ronaldo open a museum dedicated to himself in Madeira? And Messi is the arrogant one.

If you know about his charity work then it makes that charity work a bit self serving. If I were a multi millionaire and was involved with charity work I would not phone the media everytime I wrote a cheque. If these guys DID NOT do charity work they would be considered monsters imo. I like to think they do a lot we don't know about. I think 6/ 7 years ago Messi was the best but in the last 5 years I think Ronaldo is better, probably looked after his body a bit better. Of those 5 years maybe Messi steals one season.

I think Messi is more talented. However, Ronaldo's dedication and focus - to me - has taken him over Messi in the past couple of years.
When Zidane won the best player award in 2003, I remember Gattuso saying it was undeserved and Zidane only won on talent, which means Maradona should've been the best for every year he played.
Talent has to translate to success. Ronaldo IMO is the best and most decisive player for now.
But for who's the best all time, neither is my number 1, 2 or 3. They are equals - on the same level.

Messi is natural. Pure divine! Ronaldo is the best ever trained human product imo!
