I can see a 0-0 personally. Mourinho will put out a solid team and look to catch us on the break. But you're right in that I think they haven't got a chance of beating us.

I still love the Kuyt 5 yard hat trick. What a game that was.

I'm not as confident as you, but i do think we'll beat them! Crystal Palace outplayed them for about 70 minutes yesterday.

I don’t think we’ll hammer them mate, like you say Mourinho will set his team up to frustrate and hit is on the counter. They have some decent players with pace and we have to be extremely mindful of this.

That being said, I think we’re a better footballing side and I’ll be quite disappointed if we lose this game.

It’s like a Derby, anything can happen so let’s see.

They might not play pretty football but they have a squad packed with talented players. Mourinho will look to frustrate us and hit us on the counter and they have the players to do that - they also have good defensive personnel. I'm not saying we are doomed, far from it, but I think talk of us hammering them is premature and underestimating how difficult the game will be.

I hope that whatever happens we go out there to try and win the game - we play our best football when we attack and press hard and I think it gives us the best chance of 3 points. If we play it United's way a draw is the most likely outcome and, whilst not a terrible result, would not reflect what we are capable of. I expect the result to be very tight, win lose or draw, barring anything ridiculous like an early red card - it should be a good game, however I am not expecting anyone to 'hammer' anyone else - these games are always hyper competitive and we are, in terms of quality, very close to one another.

Don't underestimate Mourinho and his pragmatic, "result above all else" managing style. But I think the result will depend more on our own attitude and approach to the game than theirs because they're very predictable. If we score very early then it will draw them out and open up the field of play. And that's when we can beat any team.

I just can't help thinking about the 14/ 15 game, the circumstances were similar; after a poor start we were the form team in the league and we approached the game full of confidence. Beating them then meant we'd overtake then and move into fourth. The game ended up a disaster and our season fell apart.

We can't afford to be over confident or complacent, we have to give the game the respect it deserves, it's still Utd and Mourinho, they're dangerous.

For me it’s all about how quick we can break them down. If we can get our noses in front I’m pretty confident we could win by 3 goals. They arguably have the worlds best keeper/ we’ll need to create plenty of chances to win this game (which I’m sure we’ll do) we need to get our noses in front to coax them out and get Jose to at least encourage his team to have an attempt at attaching us.

Form goes completely out the window for this one.

Jose ego will get the better of him and he will play for a draw, simply to "show the world" how he can swamp klopp style.

I love salah's optimism but it won't be that easy. I thought Chelsea played really really well and they came away with nothing.

I can't stand the thought of utd coming away with 6 points against us and Chelsea.

Although they haven’t impressed me this season and they were woeful for most of last nights game, just remember this, after 29 games they are 2 points ahead of us. They’ve been unspectacular and we can sit here saying we’ll smash them, all we want.

They’re not mugs, they’ve amassed 2 points more than us despite all of the fantastic and free flowing football we’ve played they’ve been more successful so far, so let’s not go getting ahead of ourselves just yet. We still need to navigate tonight and hope all are injury feee for Saturday. Jose is a very effective manager, take that as you will, but he’s a fairly large obstacle in the way of us “smashing” them.

Form goes out the window for this one, they have some very good players and will be fired up to preventing a loss at home. I still think we have a decent shot though, and think Utd are borderline on the decline if they’re not careful, they’re simply nowhere near where they used to be under Fergie, and playing stale football.

Exactabloodylutly lfc hopeful. They have had a better season than us period. (I hate using American slang period) they have more points than we do. But, I wouldn't swap our free flowing football for their two points and fa cup 1/ 4 final. Also form does not go out of the window, it just feels that way sometimes. If you look at the form since Xmas we are way ahead of utd and that is relevant. If we get the first goal we will win, you can take that to the bank imo, if they score then it is going to be really hard and a point will be an achievement. I think it will be 0 0. Have we had a 0 0 this year? This season I mean. We haven't have we?

United fan in peace guys. Sorry SGRed but how are united in decline? If anything there are improving going from 6th to currently 2nd. Yes our style of play has not been what we would have hoped for but for all your ‘incredible’ football you are still 2 points behind us. It’s no fluke that we are 2nd in the league after 29 games. It’s not as if it has been 5-10 games played. The table doesn’t lie.

Jose is not getting the most out of the attacking players at our disposal and that is very fair to say. But he is a winner and he knows what it takes to win. Klopp hasn’t won anything for nearly 6 years. In these sorts of games form goes out the window completely. I personally think it will be a draw if I’m an honest. We have only lost 2 premier games in 2 years under Jose so I don’t think you will be smashing us at home.

Salah has been a terrific signing for you and if we play young there it will be trouble for us. But we have the players to hurt you as well though so it will be an interesting game.

Park3Lung - you’re right of course that the table doesn’t lie and 6th - 2nd is an improvement. But what SG said was that if you are not careful then you’ll be on the decline and that you are no where near the level you were at under Fergie, which you’re not. Jose has spent a fortune on players that arguably haven’t drastically improved the side. Matic would be the exception. The wages you guys are paying are ludicrous. The amount of times I heard complaints about the negative football being played by Moyes and Van Gaal and now Jose is doing the same. United v Liverpool games used to be the highlight of the season now we all expect a boring negative game as we know Jose will park the bus. United fans of old would be livid if their team played negative tactics at Old Trafford.

Thats fair NorthYorkshireRed. I agree we have not hit the heights under Fergie. But the two horrific appointments of Moyes and LVG were catastrophic with ludicrous amounts of spending on average players. Jose has come in and removed the deadwood and bought well. He has spent a fortune but considering where we were I am pleased to be sitting in second. Style of play must improve. But i think we shouldn't be written off. You guys play entertaining football but you have nothing to show for it. Anyway, I agree i hate united liverpool games they are never enjoyable and never comfortable. I don't think we will park the bus at home. But we will see what happens saturday.

Park3Lung. Surprising you're more worried about us than you are about your "noisy neighbours". Because it's okay now to be second best in your own city? If that's not an admission of defeat, I don't know what is.
