I watched the Barcelona vs A Madrid match and I almost didn't recognize Coutinho, wow did he run his heart out, track back, there was even a time he lost the ball near the left touch line and run all the way back to near right back to win the ball back and the cheer he received was great.
Im telling you he was not really trying those last few months for us
it is sad to see footballers like this imo.

Just another thing for the club to learn from. Players have all the control when it comes to contracts. But, we did fine when he was here too. Just be glad we have actually improved without him.

I didn't watch the game but read something very similar to what you are saying. His heart really wasn't at Liverpool since the beginning of the season, after he didn't get his move he decided to be a fool and fake injuries etc, he has no respect from me, people might say think of the things he did for us, I can't not after his behaviour at the end, he acted like a teenage boy because he didn't get things his way in the summer. He's a spanner, I hope we get Barcelona next in the CL and we smash them all over.

he is gone and is not coming back, no doubt his back injury has also cleared up.

I will focus more on the players we have still got. Since we've had Mane, Firmino and Salah as the front 3, we've played the best football I've seen us play in my lifetime, and I feel more connection with our team than ever.

There was nothing worse than "him" scoring and not even smiling whilst Firmino ran over beaming from ear to ear and trying to get his mate to just crack a wry grin even. It was depressing me even when we scored, and hardly anybody else even looked happy about him scoring as if they'd already given up on him.

Now when we score the whole team celebrates together, and every single one of them looks as happy as the fans. So we are playing better, and we have players who visibly care on the pitch. What is not to love?

Our attack is now quick, powerful, committed and has that all important unselfish togetherness. It is just a shame we had to wait until January to see it regularly.

Coutinho never came across as a traitor to me, but perhaps mentally weak. While I can understand that performing in front of 55k is more mentally strenuous than ordinary people performing in daily jobs, a professional player should have the mental strength to keep their mind in the right place to be fully focussed to the cause. There seem to be an extreme sense of entitlement amongst footballers that somehow if their club does not honour their request to leave straightaway, somehow it renders their entire career pointless. We saw that mental strength in Suarez (however flawed as a character he may be) when he used his anguish to propel him to another level of performance. Same with De Gea and Ronaldo (when Utd refused to let them leave) .

Do you think he's suffering from the vvd syndrome? Built for football but a lazy attitude? Big move happens and suddenly the energy and drive that was missing has helped him become a bigger player than his transfer suggests. Probably not but in fairness to vvd, maybe the drive to prove everybody wrong about his value could be the makings of him. I was against vvd coming in for stupid money with the attitude and wanted couts out because of his crappy attitude. I'm glad I was half wrong.

Not sure it is worth over analyzing aoe. in some ways we should be glad that he didn't derail our season before he left. We got a great fee for him and had already strengthened before he left. We've moved on now!

Cou was always a hardworking player and that is how he got to where he is today in football cos no one gave that kid a damn thing. He earned it, plain and simple. Having said that, his conducted himself shamefully just cos he did not get his way at the time he wanted it and that will always be his fault to bear, I'm afraid.

Coutinio never tried? Jeez I would love to see him when he does try. Oh wait, we saw it for years. Come on, we were all on here in the first half of the season, some wanted him gone, some held hope he would stay but not once, NOT ONCE did I ever see someone say "coutinio isn't putting in enough effort" I saw pc track back, get involved physically and score winners. What more do you want. If you were offered a 200% pay rise then 90% would take it. And I'm being Conservative there. Give the lad a break, he is one of the best players we have had in the last 20 odd years, let's not spoil the memories by slagging him off. He may have faked the odd injury but with his dream move just within reach I think we can understand that. And anyway, what proof do you have that any injuries were fake, that is you opinion. I think he worried that Barcelona would give up on him, of some other wonder kid turned up. We are doing fine without him, he is doing fine without us. There is no problem here.

I quote super salah
"He may have faked the odd injury but with his dream move just within reach I think we can understand that"

I for one will never ever understand that, sorry mate you may be happy with that from a liverpool Player but I prefer players who actually respect the club and don't resort to such things.

{Ed025's Note - me too john..

SS you must have skipped over a bunch if posts of mibe, others and especially ed1. Not a coutinho hater, just seemed better he left. As mentioned earlier, it was a blessing we got some positive output out of him before we sold. No way saw that lasting the season tho.

You're right John crow, we should drop Vvd immediately!

How do you know if he faked injuries? You simply don't know but that doesn't stop you sagging him off. Maybe klopp didn't want him playing while his head was turned, maybe he was injured, maybe Liverpool didn't want him getting injured and jeopardising a 140mil pay day. The truth is we don't know. He isn't the first player to throw his toys out of the pram and he won't be the last.

Someone said it best earlier, Barry or brover, not sure, but said "I don't ever think of coutinio, not until I see people talking about him here. " same here. We don't miss him and actually look better without him.

I just don't think he is the bad guy HD is being made out to be. The day he said to klopp "barca have offered a lot and I want to go" we could have gone "OK, thanks" we even made 132mil out of him, we weren't effed over. If a player refused to play for his club because he wanted to join Liverpool I guarantee you wouldn't be saying "no don't sign him" Well I don't know you so sorry for putting words in your mouth but you get my drift.
