Ed01 just wondering your opinion on Navas being an option as Ed02 reckons Klopp is keen on him. Do you think personally he would be a good option? Or would you prefer we got Alisson from Roma? I would rather a younger keeper to be honest, someone who can be our keeper for the next 10 years like what De Gea looks like he will be doing for United. Donnarumma I think would be perfect.

{Ed001's Note - Navas is only seen as a back up, in which case ok, not who I would pick but not really important. However Alisson would be the number one choice for me as a number one. He is the only real rival to De Gea around.}

As back up? Why not just keep Ward as backup? Spending 20 million or so on a backup GK is money poorly spent.

Ward is leaving.

Because Indian buzzer, Ward needs to crack on with his career and it would be awful of us to keep him for another season if he isn't wanted. It's better to have an experienced older keeper as back up who isn't itching to progress his career.

Thanks Ed. can't see Navas joining us to play back up to be honest when he could just stay and play back up for someone at Madrid. Havent seen much of Alisson but when I have I've been impressed. Either way I hope the goalkeeping situation will be solved, its been too long putting up with conceding comical goals due to mistakes.

Im not sure that Ed meant backup keeper (no2) but more of a backup if we can't get other targets. Liverpool can't afford to pay that much money out on a no2 when their No1 keeper ain't that hot.

I know Alisson conceded 2 last night against Shakhtar but he actually pulled off some great saves. It could have been a much worse scenario for Roma if it wasn't for him.

I think I would rather keep Karius than replace with an ageing declining Navas. He’s probably better than Karius right now but I’m not convinced it will stay that way for long. I still have high hopes for Karius and hope he proves his worth in the remainder of the season.

Hey ed001, don't you keep Oblak in the same bracket. I think that he is even better than De Gea.

{Ed001's Note - no he isn't as exposed so can't be put in the same bracket.}

I hope Karius performs wonderfully well till the end of the season.
I think Navas is a poor choice. Ferdinand was talking yesterday about how Man Utd players were unsure of DeGea when he first came.
Not saying Karius will end up being as good as DeGea, but Navas IMO isn't the answer. Besides, Karius' ceiling might be higher than Navas.
I think we need one quality CB and a quality GK. Those are the main areas to spend money on and we should go for the premium, not second choices.

Karius has looked calm and confident since coming back. There are genuine signs of a decent quality keeper there.
