Huge game Coming up. Interested to get everyone's thoughts on rye striker situation. I posted on numerous occasions in the summer that Liverpool should not only be strengthening in goal and centre back but also up top. The lack of a proven goalscorer has so far been our downfall this season. The amount of chances we create is unreal. Wingers will weigh in with 10-15 goals but it's the go to striker who can be relied upon to bag one or 2 that is sadly lacking. Sturridge just will not recover his form from 4 years ago, solanke is learning his trade and firmino, although I'm a fan is a number 10. This needs to be addressed in the next couple of windows.

Aside from that it's been obvious that Robertson is not a Klopp signing. Moreno has done ok but continues to be a liability. Robertson is equally as good going forward but with a much better final ball. Prob is their is no striker to get on the end of them. look at our competition! Kane, aguero, morata, lukaku.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool added a striker in the summer in Solanke and have enough on the books that Origi went out on loan and Danny Ings is being looked at because he cannot get a game at Liverpool. So adding another striker is not a priority for the club immediately unless they are going to move players on.}

It shouldn't only be down to the striker/ s to get in the box to be on the end of the crosses,

The box to box men have to get in as well rather than waiting for a knock down for a shot from outside the box,

Ox put a header over the bar the last time out, he missed but at least he had made the run to be in the posistion to make the header,

We have been missing what are effectively open goals. That's down to form and a mental block. Natural strikers have that too. We'll get past it and be back to scoring five a game without the needs to buy.

Robertson is the one who's final ball is not quite good enough yet, not moreno. Of course Robertson is a klopp signing. He sat dodn with moreno and told the lad he was buying a lb in the summer. Robertson first thought is to cross the ball whereas moreno tries to look for a pass. It is next to pointless whipping in cross after cross as we are hardly an Ariel threat. I think this is why robbo hasn't played much yet. Klopp is still training him. And moreno has been pretty good.

Superred- neither is good enough
Even the player Roberteno combining the best of both would not be good enough for lfc.

If you look at robertsons crosses, they rarely require someone with an ariel presence. They are more often than not low whipped balls. Perfect for players crashing the goal. Part of the problem is the 2 different styles of delivery. Moreno looks to the top of the box. Robertson delivers to the six yard box. If we stick with one of the 2. Players in the box will know where to make the run. I like both btw. Consistency is key when confidence is not as high as it should be.

I agree it should not be down to the striker to get on the end of things. Problem is we don't have one! Wingers will weigh in with goals but it is a clinical finisher we need. Ed, we brought in Solanke for the future surely a club our size cannot be content with a false 9, injury ruined liability, a youngster just starting out and a guy who hasn't played a competitive game in 2 years!

In relation to Robertson the majority of his deliveries are excellent and whipped right in where it hurts. Moreno's is average at best.

{Ed002's Note - Plus Origi who the club sent out on loan because Klopp's preference is for Firmino and Sturridge. If they were to see a couple - Ings and Firmino say, then there would be an argument to add another, but it is impractical to keep adding players in a position where there are plenty already. The efforts should be made to add a centre back in January and that should be the focus. If anyone were to leave in January then they might also need replacing, but I rather doubt Coutinho will go before the summer, but perhaps the club will look to get a return on Emre Can - we will see.}

I disagree with Ed002 about adding a centre half in January. I think we need two. Or even three.

Yeah Rigsby but what are the chances of that.

{Ed002's Note - the chance of one is reasonable.}

I think we'll get one Ed002 mate, but not 2-3, I'd expect us to get one in January and maybe another in the summer. Well, we can only hope anyway. The only thing is, I really can't see us getting VVD (not in January anyway) so who the hell do we go for. Who's available and who would want to come. It's one of them, there's not many top quality center backs out there, not available ones anyway. That is concerning.

{Ed002's Note - Stefan de Vrij.}

Has the tapping started ed?

{Ed002's Note - Sorry, do you want me to delete this thread. No one asks about transfers anymore because people like you just want it all deleted. great job.}

hi ed, do you know if liverpool have interest in Stafan De Vrij? as you have mentioned a centre back should be the priority. i am not mistaken his contract is almost up and his club might be will to get a return in Jan?

{Ed002's Note - Lazio's Stefan de Vrij has been the subject of interest from a number of sides. Chelsea considered him in the summer of 2017 but were concerned by his injury history. Inter Milan and Juventus also looked to de Vrij but Lazio were not open to a sale to an Italian side. Manchester United opted for Victor Lindelof over a number of players they considered including de Vrij. Arsenal considered the player but thought the price to be an issue. The player continues to stall over a new contract at Lazio and unless they give in to his demand for a low termination clause, then his contract will run down. Liverpool could be tempted by a January move to avoid any sort of summer frenzy but Klopp needs to overcome his banality in recruiting defenders - else he might opt to hang on for Benedikt Howedes and hope Juventus don't take up their option, even potentially letting him go in January.}

Ed02, did we not bid for De Vrij this past summer or did I get that wrong?

{Ed002's Note - discussed only - no offer.}

Thanks, Ed. On another note, is he still being discussed as an option for say, Jan or and is the club looking to bring in a CB in Jan if possible? Thanks in advance.

{Ed002's Note - RTP.}
