Eds I'm only speculating and I know it's well documented here and other social media outlets that both naby keita and Virgil van djik are the sole targets and that there is no plan b!

If that is the case and clearly they're holding out til the death for these players, is the club being short sighted to some degree?

Ronnie is just saying what everyone else is thinking. Let's be honest we have been nothing short of embarrassing in how we have handled certain deals and how we watched the window pass us by. That being said we are all hoping this is rectified in the coming week or so.

Damning indictment on who? Klopp? Says Who? Whelan? Now, that's funny. If you think Klopp cares about what some ex-player thinks about him or his team, then you are gravely mistaken. Based on interviews I watched on Youtube that he gamve many years ago, Klopp has never cared about what anyone else thinks about him. He will do what he thinks is right for the club and his players and some of us may disagree but that is about it. As for signings, Klopp is working on signings and Ed01 has said he expects 2/ 3 signings BUT Klopp does not do panic buys so Whelan can be bitter all he likes as that changes nothing.

No, he is not, Giant. Ed02 is correct. So we should just sign players (not caring if they will fit the way we play or adapt or nothing) cos the one ex-player and some other fans moaned about it? Clearly, we have learned nothing form the "peeing in the wind" strategy of BR and panic buying of Carroll, Downing and Adam. Klopp does not do panic buys so people can moan all they want.

We have signed 3 players who have improved us already and that should be commended. Do we need more? Of course and per Ed01/ 02, the club is working on things. If people (and Whelan) can't handle that then, they can remain bitter till the cows come home. Good luck with that, BTW.

Bingo, that's the point in making. I'm sure Klopp doesn't give two small brown smelly things about whelan thinks but I think we as fans should. The window isn't over and as some say, if we get Voldemort and VVD, plus keep Couts then it's probably one of our best windows.

I just think we should be behind Klopp, and so should ex players. Btw, Ed I really like him too but it's a bit disappointing seeing this in the media from an ex player and an ex captain at that.

Don't think Ronnie is bitter I think he's just expressing what he feels has been an average transfer window like to be honest if we weren't in the champions league we still would have been able to sign the 3 players we've signed already but I'm an optimist so I think klopp will still sign 2 or 3 more players before the window shuts which will make Ronnie's point mute.

Ronnie Whelan - great player, have a lot of respect for him as an LFC and Ireland legend.
He went on to manage in Cyprus if memory serves - Limassol I believe?
He's entitled to his opinion of course, but Klopp is manager for a reason.
Ronnie like Razor Houghton, Aldo, Nicol, Digger Barnes and all the rest should try to remember that when they are asked questions by journalists looking for dirt to put in their rags/ blogs.

Surely there are more players in world football than Kieta and VVD that would improve our team. We have people at the club earning massive wages who should be identifying more than 2 targets.
