just read that myself and he says we had "We had permission to speak to Van Dijk in Blackpool. There were things we didn't have permission for and that's why we made the apology.
"Chelsea met him, City met him, he is actively for sale. That wasn't the issue beforehand.
"The issue was that something happened in the press that took a bit of Southampton's power away.
if so are they trying to make them self's look better to there fans.

{Ed002's Note - The Manchester City and Chelsea permission was related to meetings held in January where Southampton, the player and one of the Jansons from Wasserman Nederlands were present. The Jansons had ousted Henk-Maarten Chin and were pushing to have the player step up and move on. They also approached Everton at the same time but I am not aware of any meetings. By March Arsenal (who had made a subsequent enquiry) and Chelsea were told by Southampton that he would not be sold and they stepped back. What happened after that has been mentioned here once or twice already. Liverpool did not have permission to fly the player to Blackpool and meet with the player.}
