My thoughts on the VVD situation is that he will stay at Saints even if that means he rots in the reserves, or go to Che or Ars. They certainly won't want to talk to us or deal with us in anyway given the way we went about approaching the player.

I can't see he will hand in a TR as he will loose his slice of the cake, also I don't think his club will honour a TR even if he was to put one in.

Ive read on the Saints page that ed said there is no relationship between us and them meaning there has been no talks what so ever since our statement withdrawing interest.

A real shame and there is only one man to blame for this mess. Im not one to be calling our players but Klavan showed last night why we needed strength in that area of the defence, and as ed002 said, we could of had him if we had gone about things the correct way.

Well Klopp better have an alternative in mind then. Our defence still stinks and gives me the jitters. I don't want another season of our defenders letting the entire team down, we need a competent partner for Matip.

If we offer the money they want they will take it regardless of whether it is us or Arsenal or Chelsea. You really think that if we make the best offer for them they'll turn it down out of spite.

Considering what he'd potentially get in wage increase and signing on fee my view is he hasn't that much to lose. In fact a signing club may look at his deal as including what it takes to cover anything he has lost. I don't think this is like you or me losing a make or break annual bonus on a crap salary.

Yes, its a waiting game for VVD, but the Saints can't keep hold of their star player, not play him, and miss out on 50 million plus . there has to be a tipping point, we just have to be on the alert .
