I've made my stance on Keita pretty clear up to now. Good player, inflated price tag, not a position I'd prioritise. I've tried to refrain from getting too involved in the discussion though.

However after today I can categorically say I do not want that piece of scum anywhere near our club. For anybody still laughing about this situation, go and watch the video. Disgusting behaviour. The most petulant thing I've seen since Suarez was at the club. I'm appalled and would be utterly embarrassed to have a player like that in a Liverpool shirt. To deliberately scythe down your own team mate in a childish act of retaliation! You'd get sacked in any other industry for gross misconduct and possibly even prosecuted for assault.

Even if he signs I will refuse to support him. I'd genuinely rather play with 10 men than have another appalling role model at the club I love. I have a young son who I want to bring into our Liverpool family, but if Liverpool are happy to make people like that his future role models? I am lost for words on that matter but I don't think I can encourage my child to idolise him.

If Liverpool's behaviour has led to this happening, it is absolutely deplorable. The fact that some people are pleased about this because it might increase our chances of signing him is quite simply embarrassing. If you think this post is an over reaction then you clearly don't understand the scale of this action. Keita has just made it okay to ASSAULT a work colleague in an act of revenge, and potentially in an attempt to get what you want. It is a sad day if this is now deemed acceptable and sends the complete wrong message to young football fans.

Give over. Tackle didn't look that bad and that kind of thing happens all the time. Maybe his head is not in the right place and he wasnt completely at the races but he didn't stab anyway so calm down with the waffle.

2.) 24 Jul 2017
24 Jul 2017 18:25:13
I couldn't disagree more. It's a tackle, they're playing football, we're not in the office here. He also previous to that had a tackle made on him which wasn't much better. It is simply just something for people to talk about and keep the saga running a little bit longer. I mean just look at the video Leipzig posted themselves of the 'kiss and make up'. Simply PR.

3.) 24 Jul 2017
24 Jul 2017 18:27:06
could u post link to video please fella. all i've seen today is on sly sports that he is training alone mate il also try look now.

24 Jul 2017 18:30:00
I've just watched it. Unless I've watched something completely different I've seen worse tackles and to be fair I don't care if he signs or not but I think you're overreacting with your assessment just a tad.

5.) 24 Jul 2017
24 Jul 2017 18:31:23
Pipe down MK for gods sake, biggest over reaction post award is all yours! Seriously, football is a mans sport and it happens! How the hell can Liverpool be blamed for this! I give up! Lol.

6.) 24 Jul 2017
24 Jul 2017 18:32:02
They have also kissed and made up already. Another video was put out by the club.

8.) 24 Jul 2017
24 Jul 2017 18:34:25
Agreed Ice T, hard tackle a little late, but the weather is atrocious, media all over it just because it's NK. First tackle looked as bad by the other guy on Kieta.
Media love a circus.

9.) 24 Jul 2017
24 Jul 2017 18:39:13
Talk about an over reaction, it was simply a late tackle. The video released was cut and edited to look like keita went straight back and did that in retaliation, it wasn't one shot and nobody that wasn't there knows the time between the incidents. If Liverpool were not in for the player and media were not all over it then nothing would have been made over the situation. The fact that people genuinely believe he would go out of his way to injure a team mate because his club are not letting him go to Liverpool is insanity (90% of social media) . I also find it funny how this post didn't mention how the tackle on him was synical and got a reaction of laughter from fellow players and fans or the fact both players made up after and the injury wasn't that bad. Late tackles happen and this is simply taken out of context because of the media pressure and coverage surrounding Keita.

10.) 24 Jul 2017
24 Jul 2017 18:41:06
yeah just seen it he definitely left one on him there but id say naughty not malitious.

11.) 24 Jul 2017
24 Jul 2017 18:41:38
Mk
Am not saying it's ok to revenge tackle he's team mate but you didn't once Talk about the tackle on kita. This happen all the time behide closed doors it's just made bigger because he's in the news at the minute.

12.) 24 Jul 2017
24 Jul 2017 18:46:15
It's not acceptable and I don't need to justify my opinions to people who approve of thuggish behaviour.

LFK II, it should come up if you google it as it is all over social media. Honestly mate, it's shocking. In case you can't find it, Keita is on the receiving end of a hard but fair tackle from a team mate, and then a few minutes later just decides to jump in two footed on the guy who tackled him for revenge after the ball was gone, before walking off in a strop pushing his other team mates who confronted him. The manager had to kill the whole session because of the confrontation it caused. The player he assaulated had to be helped fom the pitch. It's indefensible; although some sections of the Liverpool fan base will try and defend anything! It is not the message these players should be sending to kids.

13.) 24 Jul 2017
24 Jul 2017 18:55:20
Okay, got it. It's okay to attack someone as long as they don't get seriously hurt and you say sorry.

14.) 24 Jul 2017
24 Jul 2017 18:55:23
I disagree with mk. The tackle on him and the tackle he made were not all that. There are a lot of factors. The captain might have been pissed with all the drama surrounding Keita, but to me Keita wasn't having any of it.
This is the reason, you make unsettled players train alone.

15.) 24 Jul 2017
24 Jul 2017 18:56:58
Mk Liverpool target or not, I don't see how that is shocking. It's late yeah, but it's not high, both feet aren't off the ground - it's a yellow card.

16.) 24 Jul 2017
24 Jul 2017 19:01:38
Must be two videos mk, he goes across the player late on the ball with leading leg, other leg trailing. Sort of scissor tackle you get when it's wet and slippy. No doubt he wasn't giving up on the ball, and maybe more determined because of the guys earlier challenge on him, but doesn't look malicious and if in no way a two footer. Media trying to whip up a frenzy, apparently it's working.

17.) 24 Jul 2017
24 Jul 2017 19:04:08
MK, I have always enjoyed reading your posts, and generally find myself in agreement with you, but I think you are reaching on this one. It was a bad challenge, petulence rearing its ugly head, and clearly also a swipe back after an earlier challenge. But to attribute the characteristics you mentioned and claim you will never support him is foolhardy. I have coached at a high school and college level, and I have seen these types of bust ups before. Silly, yes, reckless, yes, deserving of an apology, yes, character defining as a thug and despicable man, no.

18.) 24 Jul 2017
24 Jul 2017 19:09:03
Football is now a tarts game.

Haopens day in day out.

19.) 24 Jul 2017
24 Jul 2017 19:09:55
At this point MK either you genuinely haven't watched the video or you need a trip to spec savers. Firm but fair tackle? Keita tricked his way past him and he just kicked his back leg away from under him. in training. And then Keita jumped up and two footed him? What? He went in and both studs were pointing down and it was his knee that hit the other guys knee. It was a late tackle and nothing more, the tackle grujic did on zaha was 10x worse that what keita did.

20.) 24 Jul 2017
24 Jul 2017 19:10:34
Seen a lot worse like Adam.
His head had gone but I wouldn't call it an assault.
Wouldn't even call it a hard tackle, more of a semi that 😁😂.

21.) 24 Jul 2017
24 Jul 2017 19:11:11
Mk the other player has come out to say it was accidental so chill the beans.

22.) 24 Jul 2017
24 Jul 2017 19:12:15
Stop crying about Suarez already.
All I remember was him destroying the mancs every time we played them.

23.) 24 Jul 2017
24 Jul 2017 19:12:17
I thought he won the ball.

24.) 24 Jul 2017
24 Jul 2017 19:13:46
Fencey I can appreciate that the severity of the tackle is subjective and therefore opinions will differ on the actual tackle. But surely that is not the point? The point is Keita went in on somebody for revenge. So let's say next season we are just preparing for the CL final, and Coutinho trips Keita in training, so for revenge he goes in and leaves one on Coutinho injuring him so he misses the final?

I accept that training ground injuries and bust ups can happen. For me though, you don't intentionally sign players who have this kind of attitude. It is bad enough having disruptive clowns like Sakho and Balotelli, but a player who lashes out in frustration or whatever excuse people want to make, is surely not a toxin we want in the squad?

I'm all for things like banter or a bit of a solid tackle. A deliberate foul though is if nothing else, careless. Even if he didn't mean to be so forceful, what if he'd done the guys ACL and put him out for 12 months? Training is a big enough injury risk without players intentionally going for other players legs.

Thank you for actually debating the point and not making it about me though Fencey. I still don't understand why we'd actively look to add a potential disruptive influence to our squad though.

25.) 24 Jul 2017
24 Jul 2017 19:16:21
What a spectacular overreaction this is. Really wasn't that bad.

26.) 24 Jul 2017
24 Jul 2017 19:18:17
I can accept that as a fair counter argument Adz28. Perhaps my character assassination is a bit harsh when you view it like that. Would you pay €80m for a petulant player though whose emotional instability could've injured a team mate?

27.) 24 Jul 2017
24 Jul 2017 19:18:22
. played the ball first.

Honestly, I don't see much in it. Bit OTT, but so was the first challenge.

My theory. both players look really short. Explosion of short-man syndrome by 2 different manlets, who will now be laughing about it.

If Keita signs (unlikely), and he scores during a game i'm watching with my daughter, i'll allow her to cheer.

28.) 24 Jul 2017
24 Jul 2017 19:27:06
MK I'm sorry but you really are over reacting, based on that opinion I assume you stopped supporting any Liverpool player who ever reacted to a bad tackle with one of their own? It's football, things get heated. Let me guess, you are one of those dads that believes in not winning and it's the taking part, no winners places as it won't teach the children the right things! All what's wrong in this country if you ask me, got to teach kids to win and lose. you need to grow a pair mate! Contact sport? We could start touch football. that would please you I'm sure lol.

29.) 24 Jul 2017
24 Jul 2017 19:34:58
Well that escalated quickly

😂😂.

30.) 24 Jul 2017
24 Jul 2017 19:40:55
I just watched the tackle and to be honest it is nowhere near as bad as I was expecting, he was stretching for the ball.
I don't think that we will get him anyway.

I am expecting another poor window to be honest, just hope the players we have now can cope with the season and CL.

I also hope the PC stays but if he decides to join Barcelona I don't think it will be the end of the world, players come and go and I think we have enough quality for someone else to step up.

31.) 24 Jul 2017
24 Jul 2017 19:42:21
MK, did you stop supporting Gerrard when he nailed George Boateng? Or does it only count when they are team mates? It's a contact sport, calm down with all this stuff.

32.) 24 Jul 2017
24 Jul 2017 19:53:54
I find myself in agreement with most your posts MK as well, but I thought that was a pretty harsh summary of events.

I think all of it isn't helped at all by A) being egged on by the press and blown MASSIVELY out of proportion and B) some of the stupid responses of clowns saying they love it and that its great behaviour i. e 'exactly what we need at the club. a bit of steel! ', etc etc.

The guy is clearly a bit cheesed off because I think he really wants to come to this club, maybe feels that he's been a bit hard done by and is acting out of character because he's frustrated by recent events. Nothing more in it for me.

Comparing him to Suarez is a huge overreaction.

33.) 24 Jul 2017
24 Jul 2017 20:10:55
MK obviously hasn't seen souness or Tommy smith in their hat days haha😉.

35.) 24 Jul 2017
24 Jul 2017 21:15:47
What an overreaction, We are talking about a tackle in a game of football. These things happen regularly, often read of ex pros talking about training ground bust ups.
I accept that you can't condone it, nor do I MK, but really to say you would not support him in a Liverpool tackle is borderline pathetic.

I enjoy reading your opinions MK, usually agree but have to say this is a ridiculous overreaction.

Alles gute.

36.) 24 Jul 2017
24 Jul 2017 22:01:04
Calm down princess 👸 if he signs and bangs in a 90th minute winner at Old Trafford are you telling me you won't celebrate because it Naby Keita! Take that big twist out of your knickers, take a deep breath, count to 10 and just admit you've acted like a bit of a lady. Got hell of a reaction that one fella 😂.

37.) 24 Jul 2017
24 Jul 2017 22:25:48
Of course I'd celebrate because it'd be a goal for Liverpool. I'd hope he succeeded because again, he is a Liverpool player. You don't cut your nose off to spite your face. I just don't agree with signing players who behave like this and I certainly wouldn't be buying Keita merchandise or faking for him to be a future captain etc. Publically supporting and quietly wanting him to succeed at Liverpool are different though. Never understood that analogy.

Bit of fire on the pitch is fine. I just think Keita has been a bit out of order here and I hope we don't sign him. You can put in a hard tackle without going for someone's legs. I don't condone any player doing it but it is just disrespectful to target your team mate especially and in this case, his captain.

I can see the majority are supportive or at least willing to turn a blind eye to this behaviour so I'll move on but my opinion is unchanged. I was possibly too harsh in my choice of words, but I still think what he did is wrong and not something we should want at LFC. I'll agree to disagree anyway!

38.) 24 Jul 2017
24 Jul 2017 23:26:58
Not really cool to hurt your teammates. but last time I played I tripped my best friend from behind and while he reacted pretty strongly we laughed it off later. It's the heat of the moment no matter if it's just for fun and you have to say you're sorry respectfully and hope he's not too hurt/ angry come tomorrow. But a quarter billion people are following him now so it's blown out of proportion.

39.) 25 Jul 2017
25 Jul 2017 03:51:04
Mk I agree. We should get Joey Barton in instead. Good presence in the squad.

40.) 25 Jul 2017
25 Jul 2017 04:06:45
MK I've seen Gerrard ( as well as many other Liverpool players) do far worse than that! did you want them all to leave the club and refuse to support them? . it happens and he apologised i've seen gerrard deliberately stamp on opponents ( Herrara) ) nobody was burning an effigy of gerrard after that were they?

41.) 25 Jul 2017
25 Jul 2017 05:14:50
If you're looking for role models in football you are looking in the wrong place. You set the example for your kids, not some multi millionaire with a detached sense of what the real world is like.
