What's fans opinions on Guardoila calling for 4/ 5/ 6 substitutions with the amount of games a season?
I think it's a great idea. I wouldn't go to six. Five would be a plausible idea imo. I'd like to see it happen. Whether it's even open for debate by fifa is another thing.

Great idea on many fronts, to reduce injurys and also to introduce more younger players and to generally get more players playing time.

Not convinced personally and the cinic in me says it's open to abuse for time wasting and stifling a comeback. I. e you could use subs to break up play 5 times in the dying embers. It could also see silly amounts of added time given the 30 second rule.

To stop the above abuse 87red they could introduce a no subs in the last 10 rule, the Sunday league I play in has unlimited subs and players can come back on but we can't make subs in the last 10mins to stop exactly that sort of time wasting tactic. I don't think professional football should be unlimited subs but 5 seems a fair idea.

Aye a good idea in principle but I have to agree with 87red.

It would simply promote clubs who are winning by a narrow margin to use 5 subs minute by minute late on to waste more and more time!

A better way of doing it would be to allow extra subs in extra time in cup matches and in league matches, allow 4 subs but ban subs in time added on in my opinion.

Sounds chaotic to me. Three changes are fine with me for now.

Maybe 1 more for extra time would be fine.

I imagine that if 5 substitions are allowed, then they would probably have to increase the game squad for each match by 2 also? Think of the advantage it gives the teams with deeper benches and bigger budgets $$$. The smaller teams would have a much harder time competing and getting the extra two players to play, against the major teams. And this would definitely tilt some of the balance we currently have in the EPL. Imagine Guardiola changing 4 players after 15 mins of the start of a game because he suddenly realizes he doesn't like what he's seeing. The face of his side can virtually change in a major way. Whereas, Middlesbrough, whom he is facing, is already struggling with a thin squad, as it is, and can only afford to make change later in the 2nd half.

Why change a perfect game? There are no teams disadvantaged by having 3 subs so why change it? More subs just disrupt the flow and momentum of a game.

Its fine the way it is with 3 subs
The prem iis great to watch and is way better without a winter break.
Its a real test of skill and stamina.
The transfer windows have been a great success stopping wealthy clubs buying their way out of trouble mid season.
Makes managers rotate the squad and utilise younger players.

It is a shocking plan. clubs like city have big squads with strength in depth to cope with all the games. If both teams make a combined 10 changes it would ruin the flow of the game.

I think Guardiola needs five changes as he is not sure how to set up his teams against "lesser" premier league clubs who do not just roll over.

No to 5 subs from me what next shoulder pads and 4 quarters instead of 2 halves? Where is the management skills in picking a team for the game? Daft idea by a manager who's looking for excuses.

It's a ridiculous suggestion. 3 is plenty, do we really want the chaos that happens in American sports and Rugby? No.

Next he'll want their keepers to strap a dustbin lid to their gloves.
