Ed, my favourite football book is Brilliant Orange about Dutch football. What would you recommend as I'm looking for something new to read.

{Ed001's Note - I will have to recommend Steven Gerrard, Michael Owen and .... Me as I know the author. He is still involved at Liverpool and it is an interesting insight into the academy days for a player that doesn't make it. Also the Geoff Twentyman book, scouting diaries or something like that, is well worth a read for any Liverpool fan.

If you want a book away from football, I recommend 'A Mirror Caught The Sun' by John Martin, not just because he is my uncle, but also because it was partially the basis for the new film 'Anthropoid' (which he was historical advisor to and had a small part in).}

Calcio A history of Italian football was a good read mate. Bit long winded in some parts but I found it really interesting.

Among the Thugs is amazing. Great account of hooliganism in the 80s.

One of Pele's books is one that focuses on not just his football career, but how the game itself transformed his country, his life and its impact on world society, social and economic justice. His personal stories and anecdotes are quite emotional.
