My concern about the signing of this former city keeper Karius is the repeated use of the word "potential". We've signed dozens of "potential players" most of whom turnout to be nothing. Without knowing how good this player is can anyone put my mind At ease and tell me he's good enough to make migs number 2 straight away or are we talking he might do in a couple of years?

Before Klopp I would of totally agreed with you Irish. In the normal one we must trust.

Ive not seen him play irish, but the lad is mainz number 1 so its hardly like we are buying a kid who is unproven.

Id imagine he would be ready to mignolet number 2.I could probably make mignolet number 2 haha.

He has bags of potential but the one part of the LFC staff I don't trust it's the goalkeeping coach! Has he got the brains to bring on Karius? This is where my doubts lay.

When De Gea went to United he was nothing but potential. A constant flapper, who was often brought out of the team to take him out of the firing line, with Lindegaard stepping in quite regularly.

Now he is, in my opinion, the best keeper in the league by a distance.

We have Mignolet, who can come in and give a young keeper a break from the firing line for a bit whilst not being a huge step backwards.

I think this is a very good deal and he looks like he could be a great player.

{Ed023's Note - I just want us to trust the Manager's decisions - you know that fella we all craved to take our club?}

I think people mean he has potential to be one of the best.

I haven't seen much of him but he is number 1 for Mainz who finished 6th in the Bundesliga so he is already proven to be a good keeper, and he physically can't be worse than Mignolet. There can't be 2 keepers on earth who are stealing a living at the top of of the game, surely?

I think goalkeeping coach is a major factor here, we need a new one that much is clear. I too was expecting players that would improve the first team instead of 'competition' but I think karius is the only player so far that I'm actually very interested in seeing how he will do for us. Of course I am for the others, but nowhere near as optimistic of their impact.

We are buying a back up to migs, don't get excited. Just because klopp is here our transfers won't have changed.

I find it hard to believe that Karius ia going to leave a club where he is guaranteed games just to take a place on our bench - if he comes he'll be our first choice surely.

cheer up hem mate you're becoming the leonard cohen of this site, in case you need reminding Liverpool are in there 2nd final of the season tomorrow, we needed another goalkeeper looks like we have got one, personally I am very exicited about the future under klopp, we are 90mins away from returning to the winners circle, and the champions league, you are still a doubter, you need to become a believer.

Would DeGea have improved without some competition? Maybe. Would he have improved without a good gk-coach? Never. Migs will improve with Karius in the team, but the gk-coach situation needs som looking into, imho.

*both Migs and Karius will improve by competition and good coaching of course.

I hate the term number one or first choice. It does apply to us at the moment as our choices of GK is pretty rubbish but if Karius comes in and we get CL from winning EL then surely there will be games a plenty. A PL keeper and Cup keeper!
