I saw a post yesterday about peoples preferred defence for next season, the majority agree that Illori, Sakho and Lovren/Skrtel would be their choice. Me personally, I would like Sakho left, Illori centre and Flanno right, leaving Can and Hendo in the centre with Coutinho just in front, Ibe right wing back, Moreno left and Sterling just behind Sturridge.

If Lucas leaves along with Gerrard, Allen, Johnson, Coates, Enrique, Aspas, Alberto, Toure, Borini, and Balotelli, that would leave us as having a strong back up as well, such as Marcovic, Lallana, Lovren, Wisdom, Origi, Ojo, Jones, Rossiter, Williams, Sinclair, Teixera, Lambert ( I still think he offers us a different perspective, not as a target man as such but a more patient hold up and he is happy to be a squad player for the team he loves) and with the fees from the players leaving, we should generate enough for established players in the position we need, striker, gk, and poss DM.

That would be an ideal summer for me. We have bags of young potential already there, we don't need anymore to stunt their growth. I genuinely believe we are not far off. That starting line up would have an average age of 22 with Mignolet the grandad at 26. Obvious it hinges on Illori being able to settle in the PL which I think he can and Flanno to be the same player after he recovers, and the 3 new players good enough to fight for first team spot.

As with all posts, just my opinion but there could be good times ahead as long as we stop putting ourselves into transition every year by bringing in too many players. And that includes the younger ones with potential. The u21's and U18's are being taught and coached in the way that LFC want to play, so surely, an 18year from the academy has a better chance than a 19 year old from a different country of settling to the style and the club quicker.

Loving the optimism here! Makes me very excited for the future with all the young players we have!

That's the thing though DaRedMan, they're young players, young players will inevitably make mistakes and that's something Liverpool can not afford to do at the moment. I'm all for playing young players, but there needs to be a balance. We can't have a 25 man squad with 20 players under the age of 24, that would just be football suicide!

Yeah as a great man once said "you won't win anything with kids"

That team is awful strong in attack and very weak in defence buddy.
I fear for that team,
Put Can next to Lucas, push Hendo up and go from there,
At least that's what I'd do, winning games 5-4 is a great spectacle but it doesn't win you titles I'm afraid.

We need 16-18 senior feirst team players who can do the business in the PL. The rest of the 25 man squad can be filled with the youngsters who are ready to contribute. Everything requires balance as someone said.

If you won all the games 5-4, it would win you titles, just like 1-0's would too!
