A lot of reports saying firmino failed a fitness test so won’t be starting tonight. Anyone heard different?

Inexplicable selection and why the oh so late substitution of Bobby when the game has gone away from you?

I think it shows our weakness by not having a quality forward to bring on. Origi isn't it. my mate was screaming for them to have a defender on the post for Messi's free kick.

Just reading, and listening around, everyone’s saying the same.
Jurgen Klopp and heavy metal football. But why then did he go acoustic on us for a CL semi final?

Acoustic? He went full on folk music meets nursery rhyme.

The usual level of support after a defeat i see, thank God we don't lose many under Klopp.

The match stats suggest we bossed this game, well all the unimportant ones do anyway.

{Ed025's Note - the most important one was goals scored johnny..

What are we supposed to say? We agree with Klopp’s selection and tactics?
We played an away CL semi final with no striker up front.
You have to score in your away leg, everyone knows that, but we took out TAA (half of our width supply) and had no striker.
It was narrow and negative and as soon as Barcelona saw that line-up they were pumped up and took full advantage.

I completely agree Ron, Trent whipping one in back post and mane leaping like a salmon we’d have a few. Gomez ain’t a full back.

Out played Barcelona the Spanish champions in their back garden and all I can see is complaining. Liverpool as a team are exceptional however we don't have a top goal scorer an Aguero or a Suarez. We miss as many chances as we score. We lost 3-0 to a side that really only had 1 chance got 3 lucky deflections for the 2nd and a deflection on what was an unstoppable free kick. Mane missed a sitter Milner missed a sitter firmino had a shot cleared off the line and Salah missed an open goal. If it was 3-3 you'd be talking different. It's not though it's 3-0 sometimes you don't get the rub of the green however it's one cl final and one semi in two years and we look like a proper team. Also Trent is great in attack but he's terrible at defending always gets found out. Klopp always goes with Gomez against good teams. Liverpool need a proper striker in the summer.

Negative? Did you even watch the game? We had more of the ball and more shots than our opponents. Their goalkeeper pulled off a couple of great saves and Salah missed a wide open goal. You can say many things about that performance but negative isn't one of them.

barcelona's world class players finished, and our slightly less (well, much less than messi) talented world class players didn't. messi has been a difference maker like this for over a decade now. it would have been very difficult to win that game under most circumstances with him in the lineup, on their home turf, and without any of the pseudo pressure to catch up on any aggregate goals. not being able to even score one or two though? that will end up being why we won't go on to the CL final. criticize the lineup/ formation all you want, but we had our chances and we just didn't finish.

What got me yesterday was that Klopp changed the team, and in doing so weakened our attacking threat, because it was Barcelona that we were playing.
He played the man, not the ball, so to speak and tried to be overly-clever.
Gini is not, and never will be, a false 9. He barely affected the game at all, and quite often got in the way or made the same runs as the other front two.
I’ve always backed Wijnaldum on these pages but he was dealt a poor hand by Jurgen last night.
If Firmino was not fit, play Oriigi wide or through the middle and, at the very least we’d have had an aerial threat?
Other than that, we had our first choice, season-starting back four available for selection last night. The one that went unbeaten almost to Xmas.
Ok Trent can be got at when he’s at RB, but how many assists has he got this season?
When we had to score an away goal.

Very very disappointed last night. Klopp tinkering when we could have had our first choice team out. 1/ 3 of our chief attacking threat wasted, 1/ 2 of our chief assists from FB wasted.
And then doesn’t react until it’s far too late.
Poor poor, in my view, and so disappointed in what transpired yesterday.

Can anyone remember a time where Gomez has played full back against a big team and we won? Can’t think of any. Stifles the attack on his side, every time he got to the byline he let a Barcelona player tackle him for a throw or corner. I think Trent would of managed with Milner in front of him.

In the summer we need to buy a serious striker and sell Origi, Sturridge and Shaqiri. They’ll all in the squad to replace an attacker if injured, if Klopp doesn’t trust them then just buy one serious striker and make him compete with the others. If the front three don’t like it, tough they’re not good enough to win the champions league or prem alone. City can have elite players on the bench in Mahrez and sane, why can’t we? We have the money and ambition so not sure what’s holding us back. That’s the next step for us to become a team that wins instead of a team that competes.

Uglyben2019, if only Liverpool had a top goal scorer who has scored more goals than both Suarez and Aguero over the last 2 seasons. Oh, I don’t know, someone like Mo Salah perhaps?

if we play the home leg with strongest line-up and just play it like a premiership match anything could happen.

we can put a hat full in past any team on our day. we may as well have a real go at them and lose on aggragate 6 -0 than sit back and worry about an away goal.

lol Salah a top goal scorer he needs 10 chances to score 1 he plays in a brilliant team with some good players but he's no finisher hence he hit the post. His stats show that the team and the manager are doing a great job. If klopp can add a top finisher or if Brewster is as good as the rumours suggest then you klopp can play Salah and mane as the wingers they are and firmino behind the striker creating as he does. The teams brilliant but they could use a striker with an eye for goal. Fantastic to be in a title race and to be competitive in Europe. Add some good young talent to step in for injuries and cup games would be cool.
