Hello eds,

I notice often in your replies regarding us getting a new foward in to the club, you say this would likely be at the cost of one of our top front 3 players having left.

Without sounding like im questioning your oppinion or knowlege negatively, and im aware you don't cite potential random replacements.

But what kind of forward could we get in without any first teamers leaving? Im thinking a young rising player willing to be rotated?

Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - The problem is that people are asking about the likes of Dybala and Chiesa who would cost something like £90M to provide cover - it simply isn't going to happen without one of the preferred three leaving. Liverpool can't afford it and why would someone like Dybala move to Liverpool to sit on the bench? So Liverpool could look to a versatile player who is not quite so high profile and expensive, they could get the scouts working to find an up and coming player (plucking a Yussuf Poulsen or Krzysztof Piatek out of a lower ranked side), or they could perhaps give an opportunity to the likes of Rhian Brewster and Harry Wilson and integrate them in to the first team squad. Also, it needs to be remembered that adding players to the squad requires space to be made.}

Suppose its when fans see (rashford, sanchez, martial, lukaku, Lingaard) at Utd, (aguero, sterling, mahrez, sane, jesus) at City, (higuain, pedro, willian, hazard) at Chelsea, (kane, moura, son, All, Eriksen) at Spurs they wonder why a club as big as Liverpool can't have 4 top levels footballers rotating the 3 attacking positiions. With 60 odd games a season surely each of them would get enough game time.

{Ed002's Note - Well, Manchester City have a problem with two of these players moaning about lack of game time; Manchester United have a huge problem with Sanchez and Lukaku is an out and out striker; Higuian is an out and out striker at Chelsea - but Pedro is available so maybe Liverpool could look at him. You are not comapring like for like. Liverpool also have Origi, Sturridge, sent Ings on loan, Brewster, Wilson and no doubt others. It is just yet another opportunity to whine. None of these clubs have spent £100M on players to be used for rotation. Maybe you should look to moving Klopp on if he is not bringing in the players you want?}

Ed is right here Klopp said a few press conferences ago there won’t move much transfer activity this summer, we have Lallana, ox origi and shaq to cover the flanks plus Brewster is now fit. I only see ya strengthening full back with a couple of younger players and maybe a reserve gk if migs moves on, I could also see both lovren and matip staying for now

Klopps words were it’s about improving the lads we have.

There is a possibility to drop Bobby into the false 10 role rather than play him as a number 9 and have the return of the fab 4 with a new super number 9 striker being added but then you currently have Shaq, Lallana, Origi, Brewster, Wilson, The OX all filling in as cover. I believe we will get Rabiot in midfield on a so called "free", maybe a new Goalkeeper and a left back or centre back but no new attackers or I hope not as that would indicate someone will leave.

{Ed002's Note - Rabiot is moving elsewhere - it is nothing whatsoever to do with Liverpool.}

It’s been pretty clear for most of the season that much of what happens with ins will depend on departures.

Moreno leaving makes a lb a priority, obviously the injury record of our cbs / rb area obviously needs thought.

Other than that unless a midfielder leaves where is the space for them to get into a match day squad, we can’t have players on 60k plus a week not even in a match day squad.

I’d like to think Lallana may move on maybe Milner idk would like him to stay one more season but he may want game time more which would perhaps allow a chance for Wilson to impress in pre season if he goes on loan then maybe that allows a new player to join. But we forget there’s a few out on loan to come back too so if anything it seems like departures is more important than ins atm.

Firminos worst form this season was playing at number 10 Carlos, he’s much better as a 9.

Who said anything about £100m players, is it too much to have four players of EQUAL quality to cover the three attacking positions over a long season? The likes of Firmino, Mané and Salah may all be worth over £100m but the club have shown with these three there capable of getting players in for a fraction of their true worth.

{Ed002's Note - If you could be bothered to read the posts the players being craved are the likes of Dybala and Insigne. You need to find something else to whine embarrassingly about.}

Looking at our overall squads I can see departures, sales or loans being

Mignolet - wants game time
Studge - out of contract
Ings - deal agreed with saints
Moreno - out of contract
Clyne- wants game time
Bogdan - out of contract
Ejaria - a few issues
Ojo - not developed as hoped
Chirivella - out of contract
Awoniyi - work permit issues
Kent - pre season will decide
Wilson - pre season will decide
Grujic - pre season will decide
Woodburn - possible loan
Randall - not developed as hoped
Allan - work permit issues
Shaqiri - may want more game time
Lallana - may want to move south
Milner - may want a Leeds return
Origi - one year left on contract but I believe he may stay.
Camacho - pre season to decide

Obviously all of these would depend on the offers being made to Liverpool and finding replacements for the first teamers. Randall and such like would not create holes in the squad and so would require no replacement as the next wave of youth players would fill the void.
From the sounds of klopps press conferences I do think he has high hopes for players such as Wilson, brewster and possibly Grujic for next season hence his reluctance in spending a large sum again. This is purely my own thoughts and no rumours or intelligence to back it up.

So sell ox then? Lallanas getting back to his best, Naby and Keita rarely get a look in then there’s our youngsters Wilson, Brewster, Camacho, Jones, glatzel and Duncan. Origi is playing well too. I’d be surprised if we sign more than 3 players this summer.

I think 3 aswell. cover for leftback who can also cover other positions, a creative midfielder nd an attacker who can play both out wide and central. The likes of Sessegnon, Havertz or Eriksen and pepe would be a great summer.

11.) 05 Apr 2019
05 Apr 2019 13:19:33
Havertz or Eriksen? that Messi fella would be pretty solid as well.

Players like Shaqiri are about what Liverpool can bring in as backup's and even then sometimes players are priced out of a move. Clubs don't want to sell and Liverpool don't have the financial means to bring in half the players talked about, nor would those players want to move. These are players who are barely rotated, what's the appeal of becoming a rotation option? even if they get 20-30 odd games.

The reality is that we been really spoiled on how well our buys turned out, to certain extent all our front 3 where purchased at what (in todays market ) can be seen as fair. Are we ever going to get similar quality as Salah for 39mil in todays market without assuring game time? Baring in mind Mo was not exactly the player we fans wanted but none the less he is our own today. I could be wrong but had we had our way we would probably have Brant or hyped flavor of season player who would feel by he must play week in week out based on his last name alone. I think what the eds are trying to say and i could be wrong is that even if the money was available would a Ronaldo even come our way looking at our front three and not be scared that he might actually not play without 1 of them leaving. such is how goood our players are! I honestly can't see a better winger than Mane at what he does (no 1). Than the matter of team spirit, imagine selling Salah for Lorenzo who we have no idea will turn out but without contrdicting my early stance, why risk the unknown if you really have the best? Such a risk might not only provoke others to consider thier options but again lead to another transition period. We all saw how long Bobby took to kick on would Dybala not delay us when we so close. The team will try get the right cover for our team but it might not be in the high profile player we all think it is.

Ores dad I agree whole heartedly agree with your points and to add another train of thought, we all want Liverpool to get the best players but then we also want to see youth coming through. Klopp has to balance the desires of the youth players with true potential against the needs of the squad but I believe he does genuinely want to develop the players already there old and young above continually buying for the sake of it.

14.) 05 Apr 2019
05 Apr 2019 17:00:44
Fully agree there Ohyoubeauty, to Klopps credit you have to look at what his done with majority of our player, Milly came in ass only a hard work who demand to play CM but look at him now, playing the best footie of his life, we knew Gini as a bit everything but mainly a late runner in the box to score goals but we all know when he really turns up he really turns up. Trent and Jo have improved under his watch. i don't think we need huge sums as our only stream of getting the best of the best. Look now and then a Virgil and Allison are needed but let's keep an open mind.

15.) 05 Apr 2019
05 Apr 2019 17:19:04
Agree with you there eamon and sorry Naby but I completely disagree. We have enough cover in midfield and attack and any of those players you mentioned would need some sort of playing time.

16.) 05 Apr 2019
05 Apr 2019 17:40:16
Eriksen walks into our midfield, With him and Fabinho it would be one of the rest to play with them.

{Ed025's Note - i agree mate..

17.) 05 Apr 2019
05 Apr 2019 17:41:51
All three would get playing time, or should we just sign no one and not freshen up the squad at all.

18.) 05 Apr 2019
05 Apr 2019 17:47:33
Enough with the talk about extreme outlandish options (Dybala, Insigne, even Werner) to play within a rotating front 3. That will never happen. I would like to see the team pursue Bergwijn or Brandt, or maybe even Lozano. I feel like one could be added to the group, and along with AOC and Shaqiri, and perhaps even Brewster, we'd have the proper depth to consistently line up in a 4-2-3-1 throughout the year.

ed2, is richarlison one of those in the dybala bracket?

looking forward to seeing how we improve the squad. I'm tired of seeing our squad get built up to a certain point to then just recycle our best players.

{Ed002's Note - With the owners and Klopp intent on buying success Richarlison would be a £60M to £80M sub or a replacement for Mane.}

23.) 06 Apr 2019
06 Apr 2019 15:43:18
Little Naby, my issue with Eriksen wasn't that he wouldn't play. Its that we couldn't afford him and that in his case Spurs would never sell to a rival, need to be semi realistic when throwing names out, this isn't football manager.

{Ed002's Note - Eriksen will not be moving to Liverpool.}

24.) 06 Apr 2019
06 Apr 2019 22:42:39
Eriksen may not be moving to Liverpool Eamonsf but my point is that with a year left on his contract he is not going to be sold for anything like his real value so it is realistic and also if Eriksen DID want to join us Spurs wouldn't want it but again, with one year left and if the player wanted it Spurs would have little choice so you see its nothing like football manager. I see Ed002 says he won't be moving to Liverpool so its probably a nothing argument anyway.

It’s pretty funny how Rashford and Lingard are used as examples of good squad depth. Rashford was a teenage kid who grabbed his chance which came about through injury. Lingard forced his way in from the youth teams.
We have to use our best young players otherwise why pay their wages?
Give Brewster some game time, use Origi more often. Let
Wilson play with the first team. Buying expensive replacements doesn’t always work out.
