Is there any foreseeable way that we choose to keep Ings at the end of his loan period rather than complete the move?

As in a solid amount of form that would be comparable with our 2nd string CF or the sale of Sturridge and Solanke and Danny offered a chance to rotate/ challenge with Bobby?

I guess I wouldn't have considered it until Solanke was sold but I don't see Sturridge or Origi being real alternatives that can ever challenge and surely you need that to maintain a hungry and sharp CF. (Not doubting bobby in that area, just thinking as a whole in a squad)

{Ed002's Note - Sure, make an offer to buy him off Southampton after they buy him. You all seem to have forgotten that Solanke has not played this season. Ings if he returns won't play. May as well sell Brewster as he has zero chance with Liverpool fans clutching at straws.}

I think Brewster is going to be a good one. He seems to be a natural goal scorer.

Whether or not he can make the step up time will tell but i have a good feeling about him and curtis jones also.

I think both will see some serious game time next season.

Im also intrigued by lewis. He's good some good reviews. Cover for robertson next season should see him get a game here and there as well.

Southampton have an obligation to buy Ings at the end of the season, and it works really well for them since he has been their best player this season. 18 million is a snip for them considering Bournemouth shelled out 20 for Solanke.

I think most fans liked Ings and really wanted him to succeed at Liverpool but it just didn’t work out through injuries but also to me the style of play. It’s a good move for Ings and good money for Liverpool. I would rather have the money for both Ings and Solanke to invest into one player than have them both or to have Ings back then us fans still wanting a so called higher profile player for Ings to be left on the bench never getting any game time again so why look to bring him back and let’s instead look for a new player for the future.

Ings didn’t suit our style of play 1 but can’t knock the lad he gave 110% . Same for solanke I think if we are in for a forward it will be a player that can play various positions as Klopp likes the forwards to interchange upfront so I think mobility and awareness are a must in any future forward signing .

I hope Brewster is learning to play a role across the front 3 because that's the only way I see him getting game time really. A simple one-dimensional striker - like a Sturridge or Solanke - however good they are really won't thrive with our current style of play. And I've no idea how much we ended up paying for Solanke but that sale price seems like a cracking deal for us.

Brewster is more like Firmino. Presses from the front, pulls into the channels, drops deep to create etc. Certainly not one dimensional.

Perfect fit then MK. I've never seen him play so couldn't comment really, hope he comes good and gets decent game time.

What happens to Ings if Southampton get relegated?

{Ed002's Note - Nothing.}

I hadn’t forgotten that Solanke hasn’t played ED but I haven’t seen anything that hinted at him being sold either so it came out of the blue and that then made me question if that has cause a change in the Ings situation (especially given that he has shown form where he is) .

The answer seems to be no and that’s fine, just a question.

{Ed002's Note - How can it cause a change in the Ings situation?}

I thought they'd have learn't after the Brad Smith and Jordan Ibe transfers. What is it with Bournemouth paying us more than most would expect for our young players that haven't worked out? I wish Solanke all the best, but it does feel like those transfers in the past.

We've got good transfer fees on both Ings and Solanke. The Eds won't get into the details of the exact amounts but it does represent good business on two players who will hardly play.

I do worry slightly about squad depth overall but with Origi and Sturridge as back up they were not needed.

If Solanke wasn’t touted as being sold and now we sell him that (in very basic thinking) means that we are 1 CF light on the planned squad. If Sturridge or Origi were meant to be sold and now aren’t for example, it would explain the sale.

As this wasn’t predicted or expected I just wondered if it changed that situation and the answer was no. No quality CF can ever expect to break into our team with Bobby playing as well as he does so whomever it may be that is the main rotational CF going forward, they need to resign themselves to a hand full of starts a season.

{Ed001's Note - what are you talking about? I said in the summer Solanke was surplus.}

I’d be quite happy to only have Brewster as back up I don’t see why we need 3 strikers on the bench. brewster will get to be around the first team and actually get chances to play. as Ed002 said in the sharkopod the German teams are looking at young English players, I would think a lot of them will have seen what jadon sancho has achieved by going to Dortmund and might quite fancy the opportunity themselves.
