Hi Eds, seen some talk of Son from Spurs. Do we hold any Interest in him and would Spurs be willing to sell if we were interested? Thanks very much.

There was talk of him joining before he joined Spurs. If I remember rightly, Ed001 was quite gutted that we didn't get him.

I read a story recently saying Son would have to do Military service if South Korea were knocked out early in the world cup. It really does make you wonder how some of these 'journalists' get a job.

Actually Shents I believe there is something to it, there was a large thread on Reddit about it posted by a South Korean. It was his assertion that professional athletes are only exempt from military service if they either win a medal at the olypmics or win their sports prestigious competition (I think) .

It made for an interesting read, although I don't know how true it is. Perhaps Ed002 could fill us in.

I knew there was some truth behind it Dan, I just really can't see it ever happening, and for me it's a story out of nothing. Son is arguably SK's star player and to be playing in the top 6 in the most watched league in the world promotes SK. As Ed2 pointed out, there are other players who have dealt with similar situations, though Korea's laws may be different I don't know.

I remember that too Brandt is was bobby we opted for instead so I don’t know why people are having a pop at the scouts. Maybe they don’t realise we can’t sign every player that’s ever shown some good form. 2 years ago nobody could give 2 hoots about son other than a couple of the Ed’s had said he was very good.
