Evening eds,
Seems clear that if we really wanted to and were willing to pay the price the fekir deal is still on. However my question is do you see many straight alternative options if not? Seen a lot of wingers mentioned and a few attacking midfielders but very few that would match him in terms of versatility of being able to play in a midfield three like coutinho as well as across the front line.
Cheers.

I still think we will get this one over the line, Klopp usually gets his man eventually.

Could Thiago Alcantara be an option?

{Ed002's Note - No.}

If the situation is that the Lyon owner is now asking for ten million more on top of what we were originally quote there is no way we going to pay it, we didn't want too pay original fee up front due to worries over the knee so we ain't going to pay extra too get him and look like mugs . Such a shame all this cos he excatly what we need not many others out there has his skill set and character.

He's going to Man United.

Well if Fekir is the only player who can improve us theb we should pay. Better having for Fekir Alisson than Butland and Shaqiri.

The medical experts will know Klopp really wants Fekir, but it looks as if there is a real risk of him having long periods sidelined by injury, especially in a faster and more physical league.
They can only make an informed guess about the risk of future problems, and its possible if managed carefully he could play every game for the next 7 years.
But to commit over £50m from the transfer budget, plus big wages for the next five years, could end up being a huge waste of money. And worse, it might leave the club without the money to bring in another top quality attacker- although there are presumably some very expensive insurance arrangements that could be made to reduce the financial risk?
If we had City's resources we might not have to hesitate. But we could end up in another sturridge situation, with a gifted player on high wages who is only available for half of each season.
If Lyon would accept a deal that guaranteed them the full £50m on condition that his injuries remain no worse than the average player, maybe a deal can be done? Personally it all seems pretty doubtful, from both sides.

Like there are no other players on the planet that could improve us?
That's a tad myopic!

Comments from a couple of well known journalists with good links to us indicate that Lyon and Fekir are more than willing to pursue a deal but that LFC have shown no inclination of resurrecting the deal at all. There is no clear indication of what has actually occurred to scupper the deal but what is clear is that we are the ones that pulled out much to the annoyance of Lyon and Fekir.

My two cents as a Liverpool fan who watches many games of la Ligue 1. I believe that Fekir is over rated. Watched almost every Lyon game and I do not think that Fekir’s game is NOT suited to the fast paced Liverpool style of play. He has good control but he needs many touches of the ball to go past his market.
I for one would be glad if we end up not signing him. That said, if he signs he will get my full support.

I still think we should bid for Draxler. I think he'd fit our style perfectly.

I like draxler but I worry about his mentality he seems a bit hot an cold for me in terms of consistency.

Draxler? Really? He is injury prone and is a 5/ 10 player most games because he cba most of the time. A very over rated player who looks poor playing for the best team in a mediocre league.

PowerLFC you used a double negative lol so he is suited to our style? ;)

Why are we still talking Fekir when no new information has come out? Of course he’s a good player, of course we would want his quality to improve the depth of our squad but really, Fabinho and Keita could make us an even better team at both ends of the pitch. Stop procrastinating about Fekir for now and think how good our squad already is with the present signings. Onwards 18/ 19 season.

Bored with the whole Fakir thing. He is not the only player in the world.

Son suits our style of play far more. Fast, intelligent, aggressive, and doesn't take too many touches.

I'd bite their hand off if Spurs made him available.
