Liverpool are on alert after Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure admitted this week "it would be a dream" to play for them.

"Liverpool is a club that need no introduction, " said Doucoure.

"I was impatient to play there, at Anfield. I wanted to feel the atmosphere.

"For me it would be a dream to play in a club like this. "

Always thought he would put grow Watford and I think would be a can replacement if true.

{Ed002's Note - Is that "red alert".}

Only a month ago I read his comments that he has always wanted to play for Arsenal 😂 great player, but he is starting to seem like a bit of a flake.

Anyone else remember when Arshavin had about 14 dreams in a week after euro 2008 linked him to everyone.

Where exactly did you read that MK? He was at one point quoted out of context when he indicated he was convinced to move to the premiership by Arsenal's Abou Diaby. I don't remember ever reading anything about his direct preference to play at Arsenal.

It was a direct quote Reynard. I don't know what the exact question was but Doucoure said (from memory) "Arsenal because of Arsene Wenger".

I expect it was a loaded question but he has still expressed a desire to play for Arsenal, and now Liverpool whilst he is still contracted to Watford. A few days ago nearly everyone wanted to burn Emre Can at the stake, just for talking about which league he wants to play in next season. Double standards?

I'd still take Doucoure. He is a really good player and he reminds me of Patrick Vieira the way he glides forward from deep, bullies the opposition, fires in shots from the edge of the box, crunches in to tackles etc. I'm just pointing out that he seems to have a problem with keeping his mouth shut when the press ask loaded questions.

I'd take Doucoure too (if Ndidi was not available) . There's a serious need for one DM in the squad, even if Klopp uses him only against certain teams.

And I wouldn't worry too much about players mouthing off. It's par for the course now. They forget what they've said. And readers forget what they've read. Kinda balances things out a bit, I find. 😎.

Wow, thanks MK mate. I totally missed it. I reckon you're probably right and he was responding to a loaded question. People forget that footballers are kids (at 25 I was doing some really stupid stuff! ) and it is fairly easy to catch them out. I agree with you that he has the Patrick Viera quality which is why I can see him being matched to Arsenal but I definitely think he's worth a shout if Can leaves and we don't want to overload the team with extreme earners and as a French speaker he would be a good companion for the incoming Keita.

Personally I think he is a better player than Ndidi.

I have seen very little of Doucoure so I watched him with some keeness when we last played them. He played most of the match on the right side coming up against Gini and was fairly anonymous (much like gini) . Im not sure if it was the 2 of them blanking each other out. His involvement improved greatly when Gini was subbed. However this also co-incided with Hughes coming on which pushed Doucoure more centrally.
