I don't see Liverpool ever making a signing that would send 'shivers' down an opposing team's spine.

We rarely buy ready made world class players. VVD maybe but he's not yet fit and got some work to do to fit in our style of game. We will see just don't see it we always buy a tier below. That will continue until we win something or can get top 4 regularly.

You have to look at it from a style of play perspective too though. I've done a bit of research on Demirbay since we were linked a week ago and I'm impressed.

He is mobile, direct, unselfish, and very good at playing quick passing football. Equally, he makes a lot of tackles with his high energy pressing. His best skill is that he drives at the opposition and then as the defence drop they usually drop at different rates, or someone steps out to close him down. At that point, he has a brilliant knack for sliding a perfectly weighted pass into the gaps his directness created.

For me, he is an upgrade on Lallana or Can (in our system) and certainly good enough to start games for us. He is the primary creative influence in Hoffenheim's team. He scored 6 and assisted 10 last season as they earned a miraculous place in the Champions League play offs. This year he's had an injury but he's still scoring and creating goals at an impressive rate.

He's not world class and I'd be amazed if he ever is, but he's a very good player and a definite upgrade who fits Klopp's philosophy. That to me, is more important than spending big on a superstar signing who might not subscribe to Klopp's way of playing. For example it is well documented that Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan hated playing for Klopp because he asked them to work hard for the team. In stark contrast he picked up Kagawa and Lewandowski from relative obscurity and they hung on his every word to become personifications of gegen-pressing. If Klopp feels he can work with Demirbay and achieve something special, we should back his opinion.

I like him too - saw enough of him during the CL qualifier and he's a good player. Lovely left foot, technically very good and has clever movement.

Would be an excellent signing and a nice addition, adding more balance and technicality to our midfield.

I guess we'll see if he comes in the Summer.
I liked the look of him in the play offs but didn't see him as quite good enough for us.

I've been wrong many times before, might be wrong about him now but regardless, I'll support him if he wears our colours.
Cheers all!

BS73- I don’t think anyone put Salah in the world class bracket when he signed for us.

Cobra I hear that but he hasn't just become world class in 20 odd games.

He is marginally better than Wijnaldum and AOC.

He'd play ahead of Henderson with Keita:

Demierbay, Keita
Henderson.
