So after two very poor performances will Klopp swing the axe and shake things up?
Karius has to come back, Gomez must replace TAA and either Klavan or Lovren for the inept Matip.
I read last night ome great posts on playing Hendo and Ox as the two, Mane and Salah on the wings which I think is a great shout. Can and Wini have had enough chances and if nothing else dropping them in a World Cup year might put a well deserved rocket up their backsides.
Another great shout on one of the pages was Ings up top who is a terrier and deserves a chance and a Firminho playing in a free role.
It’s Huddersfield next so we’re not expecting all out attack against us. Klopp needs to start shaking things up and showing players that abject performances will not be tolerated. A few games in the bench for Can and Wini might just change their attitudes, hopefully for the better.

Dropping gini won't perk him up for the world cup as he's watching from his couch anyway. TAA I think would be worth playing tonight as he's better going forward than gomez. Is tonight a chance to play gomez CB with VVD? Klopps stated tactics were to blame against Swansea so expect a formation change, I doubt a 442 or 4411 but possibly 3 at the back or 4132. On the transfer front, no more in this window, shame we didn't challenge for PEA. I'm the summer, a gk, cdm and a striker to replace studge and probably ings departures.

The problem is this. Bringing Henderson back in is probably sensible, now that he is over his latest injury, but then who if you drop both Can and Wijnaldum, it means almost certainly that James Milner will play in centre midfield and he is a liability at the best of times in that position.

I'd go Klavan, solid, unspectacular and until he was dropped, had cut out making silly mistakes. Never thought I would say that but there you go.

Mr Dennis. reread the original post. he clearly states both hendo and the Ox in midfield to replace Gini and can and a switch to 442 risk formation. Milner wouldn't need to start
Cheers.

Klopp isn't going to go 442, he isn't Roy Hodgson.

{Ed001's Note - he has gone 4-4-2 quite a few times.}

Shake things up?!

With what?!

Have you seen our bench?

Mr Dennis, as ED001 has alluded to Klopp has already tried this formation a few times this season, and with Keita arriving in the summer you should expect it to happen more often! 442 isn't a bad way of setting up a modern team, ask athletico Madrid and Leicester city. rather than assuming only a dinasuar like Roy Hodson would use it 😉.

Formations don't win matches . Players do.
Good players
Clever players
Hungry players
Find a way to win
Do we have them?
Not sure.

The difference is this, the title winning Leicester side had and current Atletico side have the players to be able sit back and soak up pressure when needed as both played on the counter and soaked up pressure, we lack any players that have that ability. Not one of our midfielders are at the level of Kante (who was so good that the team felt like it was having two players instead of one and he even made Drinkwater look like a footballer) or Niguez and Koke. Not one of our midfielders are as good as those players or ever will be, name me one midfielder that we have that even comes close? It is like entering an Austin Maestro into a grand prix and hoping to win.

{Ed001's Note - would it be the MG version of the Maestro though?}

For me the 4-3-3 is the best formation for us.

The issue for me is the lack of creativity and protection offered from our midfield 3. Hendo on his day can offer both of these things but since his string of injuries has failed to show his true ability.

Coutinho obviously offered the creativity to feed clever balls to the front 3 in tight spaces. This has been our main issue in the last 2 games against teams who are happy to sit and defend. We have had a huge percentage of the possession but it has all been slow and sideways.

In terms of protection I can't remember the last time that we had a quality DM who would sit there and help out the defence. Can and Wijnaldum have both had a go without much success. I don't know the number of goals that have resulted from Can giving the ball away in bad positions but from memory there have been several.

Keita will be a huge bonus when he joins but for me we will still need a 3rd quality central midfielder to play alongside Hendo (if he can prove himself fit and refind his form) and Keita.

If we can get in a top quality CM and a top quality GK for next season I would be a happy man.

Hahaha Ed001 my mate had an mg maestro turbo not so long ago, was a bit of a state though.

{Ed001's Note - had it won any grands prix?}

I think you’re spelling prix wrong Ed001.

{Ed001's Note - ah could be mate.}

I think against the teams who sit deep and we struggle to break down I would like to see him swap Salah and Mane on the wings (I know they're preferred is to cut in) but having them on the wing and they're favoured foot on the outside will stop having them need to cut in where its always jam packed, I think this would solve a load of problems breaking these teams down - what's everyones thoughts.

Cialb - I like how you are trying to think outside the box. Personally I think that would leave Firmino isolated in the middle and would also clog up the space our fullbacks would be running into. I suppose the fullbacks could move centrally in attack much like Lahm did at Bayern but Im not sure we have the players for that. TAA maybe but our left side I doubt.

No Ed001 it didn’t win any Grand Prix, although it may have stood a chance after After god had spent years corroding the body away in an attempt to make it lighter and more competitive on the track.

{Ed001's Note - they were obviously designed for racing lightness being so easily corroded. I think the design team must have used rust to get round homologation issues and road legality.}
