Morning eds hope all is well with everyone.

Do you know if there is any truth to these latest mo salah reports that we have up our bid?
Or is there anything new in regards to us and salah?

Cheers.

{Ed001's Note - last I heard everything was pretty much on hold to await the FA verdict on the tapping up as a transfer ban was very possible.}

That would be great incredibly disappointing after last seasons finish.

I've heard that nothing will come off it ed? I mean a transfer ban?

{Ed001's Note - probably won't, but that just means they have that behind them and can concentrate fully on getting deals done without any player not wanting to end up like Lacazette.}

Potentially very grim news indeed. Would a transfer ban affect Solanke or is that across the line subject to us paying Chelsea the tribunal fee?

{Ed001's Note - I have no idea how it would work, if any such ban was put in place. I don't even expect a ban, but it makes players wary of setting up a deal.}

Take it we are ok now on the ban ed?

{Ed001's Note - dunno.}

12 Jun 2017 10:43:06
When are we likely to hear the FA's verdict?

{Ed001's Note - I believe it is meant to be today, though this is the FA so I don't know for sure.}

That's a good point Ed.

Thanks for the reply!

{Ed001's Note - very welcome.}

Thanks Ed1. What a shambles. I was going to ask if our interest in Tadic was genuine or if the Times was trolling its readers but now I'll be praying that we haven't completely screwed it up.

{Ed001's Note - I am sure everything will become clear soon enough.}

Lol just imagine if we did actually get a transfer ban Ed001. Another season of fullbacks who cannot cross a football, no width if Mane gets injured and Lovren will be licking his lips with no competition for his place. Our season will have ended before it even starts.

{Ed001's Note - or it could bring them together and the season before has gelled them as a team and we actually do even better than last year. You never can tell. Some people actually rise to the occasion when things go wrong.}

Owe sh##. Very possible doesn't sound good at all ed. When will we ever learn.

10.) 12 Jun 2017
12 Jun 2017 10:43:55
Welm doesn't that make it all the more important we seal the deal before there is any potential action? Surely once we've signed him and providing it's all above board the authorities can't do anything about it?

{Ed001's Note - no, because the FA has to agree to transfer the registration, so they could easily say we have to wait until it is concluded.}

11.) 12 Jun 2017
12 Jun 2017 11:07:51
Wouldn't this screw up our plans if FA delays as if we are not already screwed in the first place?

{Ed001's Note - very welcome Ir89.}

True that Ed001. In that situation, we can see how many of our players are capable of handling the pressure and expectations. Obviously the expected sales of Markovic, Moreno, Lucas, Clyne, even Sakho may have to be put on the backburner. Ojo, Chirivella, Gomez would probably not go out on loan either.
If the worst happened, I'm sure Klopp will throw the FA Cup and league cup plans into the dustbin and just focus on the league and Europe (and understandably so) .

{Ed001's Note - it would certainly make for an interesting season.}

Shades of the Matip Afcon situation here. Then we f****d up and had to withdraw the player from the squad, now we're forced to hold back on negotiations because of our indiscretions.

Oh wow didn't realise it was that serious, maybe for the good if the club they should get one to wake them the hell up. (Dont really want one btw but. )

Silly thing was it turned out we did not need to withdraw Matip. Just did it to play safe.

If we do get a ban, which I doubt, every club in the EPL will be scratching around trying to cover their own back because I doubt very much if there is a single club that has not tapped a player up somehow, somewhere.

ED001 what do you mean other players not wanting to end up like Lacazette? Did we have genuine interest? What's the story there? I've tried the search function but only found people discussing buying him.

Thanks in advance.

{Ed001's Note - I think you are missing the point. Lacazette had a deal to join Atletico Madrid all set up only for Madrid to get a transfer ban. Now he is in limbo trying to find a move.}

Hi Ed01. It's not possible right, if indeed we get transfer ban, that the ban will be an immediate ban? Maybe more like next upcoming windows? I am thinking about similar bans in Spain. But I do understand that those bans were given by FIFA, and probably different from FA.

{Ed001's Note - I have no idea how it would work, if it even happened.}

Hi ed. Have any English clubs ever received a transfer ban before ( in premier league) it would be pretty harsh I reckon. This sort of contact between players and prospective clubs must happen a lot. I also agree with you that it wouldn't be the end of the world as we have a very good team anyway and this could ironically make it stronger. It would be a shame though as I thought this window might have been our most significant for some time. Any chance of klopp getting fed up and quiting?

{Ed001's Note - not that I am aware of but no Prem club has ever been guilty of so many repeated infringements.}

22.) 12 Jun 2017
12 Jun 2017 15:36:06
Let's face it we probably deserve a ban. And when it comes to Liverpool I always get that feeling some backwards step is around the corner when it starts to look too positive. Hopefully not. I'm not even bothered if we miss out on VVD. I had believed we were going to stick with what we had anyway. It's just the club's reputation and the fact we clearly didn't need to do what we did.

23.) 12 Jun 2017

If we had a transfer ban it would be incredibly disappointing but frankly we couldn't complain. We're not the only ones guilty by any stretch but we are probably the most blatant infringer and hopefully the severe threat alone is enough for us to learn our lesson.

In terms of how we handle it, I have to agree with Ed it may actually be OK despite our fears, we have the bones of a very good squad already and we could do worse than let Markovic or Ojo have a shot at backing up Coutinho on left wing, letting Grujic get a shot at midfield, let Can and Hendo run the base of midfield and potentially even let Sakho have a chance to redeem himself at CB or let Gomez step up. The main problem is still at fullback but Milner at LB isn't the worst option in the world, and hopefully TAA comes through next season to keep Clyne on his toes.

Bottom line is, as bitterly disappointing as it may be we'll all survive even if we'd all love to see Salah, VVD and Mendy join.

Well said zimbo. I totally agree. Markovic actually did pretty well at Hull. There's no doubt he could do a back up job. Spent 15 mil too much for him. We could also do worse than Milner at lb but what if he gets injured? I've very little faith in moreno. . Even as a back up player. Any one we add to squad will be a bonus. As long as we don't lose anyone big were in with a shout next season.

{Ed002's Note - In answer to a previous comment, in the Premier League there are transfer bans relating to two clubs already in place in regards to Academy players - one of which is Liverpool.}
